When I applied for the position of orientation counselor at UCLA we did a similar interview process. It had 3 parts. ONE: personal interview, the usual kind. TWO: group discussion around a table. There were approximately 12 people involved in this. I forget the topic but it was probably pertinent to counseloring. THREE: We took turns posing a problem as a counselee and being counseled by a prospective counselor. This obviously was apropos to the job, but it had the amusing sidelight of exposing a few peoples' weird habits. Would you (for example) hire someone who admitted to _____(fill in the blank with some abhorrent thing.)?
