Yep, wasps eat spiders -- unlike bees they are carnivorous. We always tell people that if the (paper) wasps aren't bothering anyone they should let them be because they'll eat aphids and spiders and other pests. (Yellow jackets are too nasty though we wouldn't recommend not killing them I think).
