Friendzy!

I thought I'd do something the lovely [livejournal.com profile] boxsofrain did a bit ago, and declare a Friendzy (Friending frenzy!). Actually I'm not sure she intended for it to work out quite like this but it did: (1) answer the following questions in a comment; (2) As Boxes says, "Also to make this more fun, feel free to read other peoples comments and reply to them with something nice about them. ... Make friends, add each other, mingle, just please be nice." (3) extra points if you mention the Friendzy in your own LJ and send people over to the party! (=

YES ABOUT THE TRUCE!
that's one of the most awesome things ever to happen. Where I lived it's actually common knowledge, but it is globally unknown or rather it isn't talked about. My grandpa used to tell me that story. Did you know there's a French movie about it? I'd have to look up the title, but when the film came out the story was apparently a shock to many people because you know, TEH EVILE GERMANS. My grandpa always used to say that the German soldiers were just boys anyway (he was a doc during WWII) and that you could hardly blame THEM for everything. But, I love, love, love that story about WWI.

19th century Europe was full of secret agreements and such. At least the later half was. I just had to go through class today listening to a lecture about diplomacy that led up to the First World War and read about it last night. x.x

It's all really fascinating since no one actually knew the all of the details of what was going on. They knew these agreements were there between other countries, but they weren't sure what they contained if they weren't involved and even in their own country all of the details of a treaty was kept to only a couple of people.

Might still be going on today.

its one of the few stories that really makes you think wow, maybe there really is still some humanity in humanity. I literally cannot adequately sum up how I feel about the incident in writing in any way that does it justice.

Randomly, I own a book about the Truce myself. Then again, I'm one of the weird Americans who knows more about WWI than celebrity culture.

I also hate that "evil German" stereotype too.
