Friendzy!

I thought I'd do something the lovely [livejournal.com profile] boxsofrain did a bit ago, and declare a Friendzy (Friending frenzy!). Actually I'm not sure she intended for it to work out quite like this but it did: (1) answer the following questions in a comment; (2) As Boxes says, "Also to make this more fun, feel free to read other peoples comments and reply to them with something nice about them. ... Make friends, add each other, mingle, just please be nice." (3) extra points if you mention the Friendzy in your own LJ and send people over to the party! (=

way to stereotype people!

I'd say I'm more of an engineer by accident.

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Me? Stereotype? Never. I do come from a family of engineers, though, and I made the mistake of dating one as well. Although I think the problem may have had more to do with him being a Scorpio. *shrugs*

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I recently bought a shirt thats green witha big shamrock on it and it says "STEREOTYPE ME, I'M IRISH" (=

Seriously, just because I'm Irish doesn't mean I like to drink stout and wear a jaunty cap ... thats pure coincidence! haha d=

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't forget the peacoats!

Hahaha yes, which I also wear whenever the temperature warrants it (ie I practically lived in it in Winter in Davis). Sometimes I really do feel like I'm TOO stereotypically Irish and I really don't try to be!!!! d=

Both my grandfathers were full-blooded Irish. No dearth of beer or corned beef at our family gatherings...

Stout or at least ale I hope!

Re: Stereotype Me I'm Irish

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. That's only after they get tired of cognac, of course.

Re: Stereotype Me I'm Irish

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha. I haven't had much exposure to cognac. I know I dislike whiskey (which is counter-stereotypical I guess). When I was younger I used to swill vodka like water but now I'd say.. I don't dissslike it but I prefer spiced rum. Sailor Jerry for the win! But best of all my liquor of choice is... Ouzo!

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
stereotyping by career and astrological sign now? maybe this desire to categorize things and fit them into neat compartments is a symbol of YOUR inner desire to be an engineer.

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Odd, isn't it? I need to call my therapist.

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd call mine, but I think today is the day he goes bobbing for buttplugs...

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, he's a big fan of falling on sword games, too...but typically not his own.

Honestly, I'm just happy I remembered that was your post. I'd say it was just because you're a photogenic female...but, really, I don't even remember who writes what among that group.

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha. I think most people will remember that was MY post for a long, long time, unfortunately.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
hmmmmmm considering the comments preceding this one I'm highly curious what this post of yours you're referring to is about.. o_O

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
You mean you missed my infamous Week 2 post? No wonder you don't hate me.

Week 2

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm seeing a post titled Week 1 and a post titled Week 3 ... did you delete it or am I just not seeing it? /=

Ah, I took that monster private after the voting was over.

yeah, I keep waiting to see if you top the 8000 comments you got. I'm not sure there is any way you can do it. It's a delicate balance to upset people in a way that they feel the need to spout off, as opposed to just write you off as a crazy. That onfire4thelord dude wrote something about being gay means you're going to hell once and it mostly went ignored.

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I stopped commenting back around the time it topped 100 comments, but it really did max out closer to 1,200, for what it's worth. And there were at least two commenters in there rabidly arguing back and forth against several others, so that probably accounted for a good chunk of the total volume.

I suppose I just managed to piss off a whole bunch of groups, instead of just targeting one or two.

Mental note with star: enter the competition under a different journal next year.

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
are you kidding...some of these people take their time on LJ and in Idol seriously...they'd track your IP and out your real identity by the third week. Possibly while calling you a coward and saying you were trying to hide something by using a fake journal, and then bringing up your past entry. A better solution is to go the opposite way and just offend more people. Some topics to consider:

Why I Hate Muslims (not the radical ones, just the ordinary kind)

Do All Female Politicians Have To Look Frumpy?

Homeless People Belong in Jail

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking more along the lines of:

The First Time I Decapitated a Puppy

Hey, Fattie - You're a Lazy, Worthless Human Being

Or I could just write a new sexist joke each week and work in the phrasing of the topic.

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, the last one would definitely do it. As long as it's against other women. Men don't seem to take offense to sexism...but woman on woman hate...that will draw the ire of the masses. A vaguely educated sounding essay that correlates a rise in crime to women joining the workforce might cause hellfire to rain down upon you.

The word fattie might do it, too...I think I edited that one out of Vanity post.
