Bevmo Beer Tasting

So every Tuesday and Friday I go to beer tasting at Bevmo. Since the bars all suck around here and I don't have clubs and stuff anymore, its pretty much my only social activity these days. But I'm spending $4 a week on it so at least its not an expensive habit.
Looks like there's about 15 people in this picture. 30 people total came through this day (yesterday), and Jeff the host poured no less than 53 beers. Not 53 DIFFERENT beers unfortunately, but a rotation of probably about eight this time. Sometimes people will buy beer themselves and bring it over to the beer tasting so they can share their favourite beer with everyone. Last Saturday at wine tasting someone even bought a bottle of wine for the crowd. I think this is silly, but when the beer Mark and I are brewing ourselves is finished next week we'll probably bring some of that in (I'm guessing its against FDA regulations for one reason or another, but Jeff was enthusiastic about it).
Yesterday four guys who either had never met before, or only at the beer tasting, got to talking and decided ON THE SPOT to go to Vegas for the weekend. If you go to flickr I've noted who in the picture it was if you're curious. I hate Vegas with a burning passion but I was strongly tempted to jump on board as well just because its such a completely random adventure and I love random adventures. The one guy had everything comped so I wouldn't have had to pay for transportation, lodging or food. But ultimately my loathred of Vegas won out.
When I show up seven people shout "hey Kris!" and if they're drinking lagers or something like four people will be like "ooh you're not gonna like it today!" I find it hysterical that they not only all know my name but also my taste in beer.
Also without fail there is a daily discussion of Stone Brewery. I think thats a real testament to how awesome it is.

It's nice to be cheerfully welcomed: appreciation and all that jazz, gotta love it when you get it!!
That background is wild/at first skim I thought it was a giant elevator in a marketing building or a prom or something LOL heh hehe.
