Change You Can Believe In

So today I collected all the coins off my desk, floor and took them to the local coinstar machine.

The total weight of coins was 19 pounds.

1161 pennies ($11.61)
304 nickels ($15.20)
392 dimes ($39.20)
500 quarters ($125)

Total: $191.01

Coinstar machine took about $16

Additionally I have a pile of coins I've accumulated over the past year from the UK, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, & Spain.

Hope everyone had a delightful New Years, I spent mine with the crews of five tallships, on the tallship Tole Mour, watching fireworks over the Queen Mary.

OK

I know about ships, sloops, cutters, cutter rigged sloops, barkentines, barges, keelboats, clippers and windjammers. WTF is a 'tallship'? Is this a marketing term or something?

I know, I know. Don't talk down to your audience: educate them.

BTW I think it is really cool that you have crewed a sailing vessel, and think it just too bad that they didn't take you out on the water. Graveyard of the Pacific my ass. Take her around the horn before you call yourself a sailor. But that's not your fault.

"Tallship" is surely a neologism, but has come into widespread use to describe any historically rigged vessel.

Have to seen the short film "Around Cape Horn" by Irving Johnson (original footage from the barque Peking rounding the cape in the early 20th century)? It's a real must see.
