Friendzy!

I thought I'd do something the lovely [livejournal.com profile] boxsofrain did a bit ago, and declare a Friendzy (Friending frenzy!). Actually I'm not sure she intended for it to work out quite like this but it did: (1) answer the following questions in a comment; (2) As Boxes says, "Also to make this more fun, feel free to read other peoples comments and reply to them with something nice about them. ... Make friends, add each other, mingle, just please be nice." (3) extra points if you mention the Friendzy in your own LJ and send people over to the party! (=

Ah, I took that monster private after the voting was over.

Oh, the last one would definitely do it. As long as it's against other women. Men don't seem to take offense to sexism...but woman on woman hate...that will draw the ire of the masses. A vaguely educated sounding essay that correlates a rise in crime to women joining the workforce might cause hellfire to rain down upon you.

The word fattie might do it, too...I think I edited that one out of Vanity post.

[identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah... the only thing worse than being the man in that situation is to be a traitor.

I think the essay would be brilliant. I might just write it now and hold it in reserve. I'd credit you, of course.

i have that too! and spaced!

yeah, love all the movies really. it's so hard to pick a favorite by them (though spaced = brit sitcom) and everything else. shaun kinda wins out because i love zombies.

same with movies by quentin tarantino. can't pick a movie of his that is my favorite because i like them all.

Ha. I'm sure you can find the gist of it in [livejournal.com profile] sf_drama, if you really want to hate me. Hopefully you won't hate me as much as the person who wanted to "fuck her with a hot curling iron."

Favorite Historical Event: I am a complete history nerd, so asking me to choose one is difficult. If pressed, I would have to pick the first atomic bomb blast, 1945, at the Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range located 230 miles south of Los Alamos. It changed forever the world as we knew it.

Hahaha. I haven't had much exposure to cognac. I know I dislike whiskey (which is counter-stereotypical I guess). When I was younger I used to swill vodka like water but now I'd say.. I don't dissslike it but I prefer spiced rum. Sailor Jerry for the win! But best of all my liquor of choice is... Ouzo!

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
In re your historical event. Thats definitely a good one! I was thinking, its easy to just think of "deterrence" as a abstract idea politicans throw around to justify having nukes, but if you think about it, I am almost certain we'd have had a direct war with the Soviet Union at some point if it weren't for the fact that we all knew it would be the end of the world. d=

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, I'm not familiar with Spaced? But speaking of British sitcoms, COUPLING! I've only seen seasons 1 and 2 and I really want to see the rest.

Also, so many hollywood types have names that you're just like "oh its quentin tarantino," of course. But you never stop to think, WHO is named QUENTIN, seriously?! Or like Uma Thurmon, "UMA?" Hollywoodians have some weird names.

very true. very true.

spaced is amazing. the wiki can explain the concept better than i can! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced) but yes, it must be checked out. as for coupling, i might have to check it out (the british version of course.)

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, crediting me would probably only serve to discredit you...deserved or not, I seem to have a reputation mostly built on rumor in Idol that doesn't entirely fit me, but does lead to people not taking me too seriously. Which is probably a good thing. I only tend to get one "are you a prick?" comment a month now....

Life's pretty good down here. We have the same problems (crime, healthcare, inflation etc.) as everywhere, but it takes a lot to get Trinis to stop partying.

[livejournal.com profile] deadbrowalking is a community highlighting people of colour in the media.

Oh yeah I think I might have heard there was a terrible attempt at an American version. I think its universally agreed that is better forgotten.

Re: One More Question

[identity profile] helloautumn.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, there would have been. thankfully, someone in the higher ups of american television deemed it horrible and shot it down. whoever that was, i wanted to thank them in person. :)

but would it come to america? only with the original team on board. (this version wouldn't have everyone on board.)

Agree. We would have been at war.
In terms of war, I suppose nuclear bombs are somewhat of a deterrent. In the end, though, they probably will be responsible for untold devastation. And I don't even want to tip toe around the idea of chemical warfare . . . shudder
Hey, can we change the subject and talk about puppies or something? Pretty please?
