Onward, to the Unknown!

Tomorrow around 13:45 I arrive in Portland Oregon. I don't know where I'm staying that night, or how the hell I'm getting from there to Newport Oregon, some 124 miles west by southwest of there. Adventure!

Unrelated Picture of the Day

New York!

...Or maybe that's New York as portrayed by the Vegas hotel New York New York as portrayed by Legoland!!

Quote of the Day
Ange: "Where's Mt Rushmore?" (as she writes a postcard with a picture of the legoland Mt Rushmore)
Kris: "I don't know, somewhere where no one goes"
[livejournal.com profile] skitty: "I don't know!"
Ange: "It doesn't say on the back of the postcard either!"
Kris: "They don't know either!!"
[livejournal.com profile] skitty: (at her computer) "The Mt Rushmore website doesn't even say!!!"

Good luck with your next adventure and, as always, keep us posted about everything!

Love the Legoland NYC; love the convo even more. :)

South Dakota. There are also crypts/time capusules inside with the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence in case 'something happens', I think. /geography nerd

O RLY? Interesting. I'm picturing these crypts specifically being accessed up one of the president's noses.

[identity profile] egbert.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I think the vault is actually accessed through a hole in the back of their heads. Which is somehow totally appropriate. Although I think the idea was abandoned, and they're empty (the vaults, their heads, whatever).

OR THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO THINK!! ::nods knowingly::

Mount Rushmore exists in a state between life and death, never fully setting foot in either realm. Which is to say South Dakota ;-)

Of course, I only know this because we arbitrarily set my Thursday night roleplaying game south of there in Wind Cave National Park. Go further west down the I-90 and you can take a turn off to see Devil's Tower in Wyoming, too.

LOl!

Hmm Devil's Tower ... is that the place featured prominantly in Close Encounters of the 5th Kind (or maybe it was 6th or 3rd or something)

The very same:

Looks slightly different when it's not made out of mashed potato ;-)

I used to work at Legoland, every day there was an absolute nightmare.

Tales asap!

Try looking in South Dakota. But fair warning: one year, the Rand McNally atlas pegged it as being in North Dakota instead!

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Lol! Even the map people don't know where it is!! It is truly the middle of nowhere!!

wait...how can people in America not know that?

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It's in "one of those middle states," one of them could completely disappear and no one would ever notice.

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah...but, still...the only thing that's worse than Jay Leno is when Jay Leno is actually accurate...and now I can just see you on his little jaywalk bit....

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh I would have started throwing out states like "North Dakota" "South Dakota" "Montana" or "Idaho", they're all the same aren't they?

[identity profile] superhappytime.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
i suppose, in the same way that new york is another extension of jersey filled with angry sopranos stereotypes whose highest aspiration is to be the driver on the garbage truck instead of the guy on the back....
