Photo Frenzy!!

Last night I posted a heck of a lot of pictures to flickr.

In addition to finally completing the set from last trip to Nigeria I created no less than six new sets of pictures: Amsterdam (where I spent about 24 hours on the way back), In Flight (I had some really good views of neat canyons and things in Nevada as a flew over), Food (two new pictures and then I moved a bunch of pictures I already had up of delicious food into the set), Hearst Castle (Which Kori and I visited on our recent little jaunt up the coast), Bee Factory (& some from the research facility. I can almost guarantee you've never seen the inside of a "bee factory!"), and finally Package Shaking wherein we take those packages of bees and shake them out into hives as the sun sets picturesquely behind us.

But our main event right now is the completed Nigeria set, which you can see here:

Less than 24 hours left now till I board a plane to return!!

I visited Hearst Castle last spring, shortly before they severely cut back on the tours. It took us two days to go on every tour they had... but we saw every room in every building. Fan-damn-tastic!

It's an amazing place though!!

No argument. Every time I thought the place just couldn't get any better, it did! For example: Did you take a tour of the kitchen area? That blew my socks off -- one of the things which really impressed me was that Hearst had paper napkins for his dinner guests, monogrammed with multiple color no less. Now, in the modern day that doesn't sound so fancy... but remember that Hearst was doing this IN THE 1930s! The cost of creating such things in those days must have been incredible... but Hearst had his guests using these napkins at every damned meal!

We also managed to visit the area when the sea lions were lounging on a beach just up the road... and we were fortunate enough to see the "wild" zebras one morning. Oh, and we drove down from Monterrey via CA Route 1 (AKA The Pacific Coast Highway) -- the views were spectacular!

I'm not going to claim it was "The Best Trip Ever"... but it definitely was up there!

I very much enjoyed the tour of your time in Nigeria, what an amazing opportunity. I hope you were able to accomplish what you intended. It looks like you had a wonderful time and met some interesting people.
