Fast Food on a Silver Platter

I just wanted to post this here for when I'm going back through this journal in the future. This picture perfectly encapsulates the national dumpster fire we are currently facing. Government shutdown now in day 22 or 23, Trump, self proclaimed "master of the deal" totally unable to make a deal to open it again. I optimistically feel his days have got to be numbered at this point. I hope Pence doesn't pardon him -- if he does, which lets face it he probably will, we'll never hear the end of Trump blaming everything on everyone else.

So, do you believe Trump will be the president again?

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-18 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
Nah I think before the end of this year he'll be out of the presidency and either in jail or in shame. The criminal investigation on him I think is supposed to publish its findings in February and I'm not sure he'll ever re-open the government and pretty soon republicans will begin to side with democrats to reopen it.

[identity profile] maadmike.livejournal.com 2019-01-18 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You are first I asked who thinks so clear about this, though yeah many people were absolutely confident that he will loose to Hilary and he we are... I couldn't watch CNN accusing Trump in all the sins without much evidence but I don't care much what will be in USA, I am just little interesting. I think, all this turmoil about Trump is just the top of the mountain of many other obvious problems and no matter who will be ruling USA it will not change much but of course I am a side watcher.

[identity profile] pondhopper.livejournal.com 2019-01-17 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh man. I just want to hide in a cave until he's gone and I don't even live there. And it's day 26 or 27 of the infernal shutdown.

At least we're not IN the US. Sometimes I really feel like I'm hiding out over here.

I know exactly what you mean, Chris.

Who needs government?

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-18 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
I read somewhere that Spain has been "without a government" for over a year and the economy has improved, or something, it's a funny but misleading headline because their government is still functioning as far as departments doing their business its just that no parliamentary majority coalition has been able to form to legislate.

[identity profile] ani-mama.livejournal.com 2019-01-17 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I just...have no words. Every time I start thinking, meh, the press is being super nitpicky and maybe Trump is not as bad as all that...and stuff like this happens. It feels like we live in a reality show.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
He does love reality shows!

[identity profile] zombiequeen.livejournal.com 2019-01-17 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The fact that he acted like he was SO proud of serving up that garbage is what gets me. @@

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeeah I really really don't understand it! And he's all like "I proudly paid for this out of my OWN POCKET" ... he could easily afford filet mignon for 500 with proverbial coins under his couch cushions why oh why is he so proud of 100 "hamberders" ???

[identity profile] gaeln.livejournal.com 2019-01-17 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)

I agree wiyh you 100% What a total train wreck!

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Like "watching a train wreck" its certainly got me eagerly grabbing for my phone every morning to see what ridiculousness has happened overnight

If only Abe in the painting could come back to life in his legs wearing steeled toe boots and kick 45’s head open so all the cotton balls that have stick together with Diet Coke and jelly beans would spill on the floor.

"I hope Pence doesn't pardon him"

On the one hand, I feel like if Trump goes down, Pence does too, and the whole damn racket because they were all in on it. On the other hand, I'm too cynical to think that ANY of them will go down.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-17 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
But I mean just look how squeaky clean Pence has been able to keep himself. I think it was his plan from the start to be the only survivor after all the shit goes down. Not one of these corruption or collusion scandals has actually even passingly mentioned him.

[identity profile] ryl.livejournal.com 2019-01-18 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder if the avalanche of Trump scandals has a snowball of Pence scandals hidden inside. Everyone looks squeaky clean next to the Wiggy Slice. Besides, there is no way Pence hasn't been involved in some of this mess.

I also think if Pence pardons Trump it'll be political sucide a la Gerald Ford. Or maybe he won't be able to--it looks like a lot of the charges are going through the state courts and the President can only pardon for federal charges.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah that would certainly be a big and interesting decision for Pence as to whether or not to pardon Trump.

If Pence too gets knocked down it goes to the Secretary of State I think?

[identity profile] ryl.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Speaker of the House, then the President Pro-Tem of the Senate.

I live in a house with a political junkie. He has the line of succession on a corkboard in the kitchen.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha so if Trump and Pence both get knocked out it'll be President Pelosi? Ahahahahahaha, sadly that means no matter how guilty Pence is the Republicans in the Senate will absolutely not allow him to be knocked out.

[identity profile] richaarde.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Pence looks squeaky clean only because anything standing next to a burning turd pile looks squeaky clean in comparison. He’s a far-right conservative blowhard, and an asshole.

Also, I could not possibly be less convinced that he’s honestly a heterosexual.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-20 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
ahahahaa

[identity profile] furzicle.livejournal.com 2019-01-17 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I assumed at first that this photo was a spoof. In studying it now (enlarged) I'm not at all sure about that!

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Nope pretty sure its an official release!

[identity profile] richaarde.livejournal.com 2019-01-18 01:24 am (UTC)(link)

He couldn’t even bother to spellcheck his tweet. Either that, or those things in the pic really are hamberders.

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Its funny, as is often the way I learn of big pop culture events in the states, all of a sudden everyone on my facebook wall was making references to "hamberders" and I had to ask okay what is this all about people??

[identity profile] richaarde.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, FB is good for that. I think “covfefe” had my FB feed rolling for at least two weeks, back when that was a thing.

[identity profile] shygirl123.livejournal.com 2019-01-18 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
He makes me sick to my stomach, I just can’t. 🙄

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-19 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Its really unbelievable! I mean its beyond satire -- when the Simpsons famously portrayed Trump as president ten years ago it was because it was an idea that was on the face of it ridiculous and silly, and/or people point out that even in a superman comic where the villian becomes president that villian gives up his corporation, which Trump didn't do -- because people simply couldn't imagine such brazen behavior even from a cartoon villian!

[identity profile] pundigrion.livejournal.com 2019-01-20 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I only hope for the US's sake (and Canada's) that he doesn't get a second term, but then again I still can't believe he got a first! And that people still support him....

[identity profile] emo-snal.livejournal.com 2019-01-21 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
I have this theory. For the last 100,000+ years human society has been dominated by very strict us-vs-them dynamics. Other bands / nations / tribes trying to take your land and your stuff, endemic warfare, up until literally the last 100 years or so many nations went to war almost yearly practically seemingly for the sport of it all. Thats no longer a thing, so people have realigned their deeply innate sense of tribal us-vs-themism. This is manifested in two ways, obsessive rooting for favorite teams, and political polarization. Most people I strongly suspect, if they hadn't been indoctrinated already in the political views of their party wouldn't necessarily hold them. But tehy're steeped in that their party is US and the other is THEM and they must be DEFEATED! And when it comes to Trump, they don't truly care about his policies, they NEVER cared about poilicies, but what they care about is that he really really really pissed off THEM. Basically, they are motivated by pure spite.

Can you explain this picture? Because I am quite puzzled.
