Four Day Weekend!

So I woke up with a start today at 7am, lying on top of my alarm, which wasn't going off because I think I turned it off around 4am after hitting snooze several times.
So I quickly kluged together a presentation in Swedish to make during class that morning and scampered after the bus.
Around noon however the former Director-General of the US Foreign Service introduced me to a former US ambassador to the United Nations, who asked me how I keep my hair up.
Then around two I assassinated one Aysha Mohsin* and my day was definitely looking up. Once it was raining things were pretty good, and Swedish is cancelled tomorrow so its officially weekend for me now (note: it is wednesday)

*Phi Alpha Delta pledges are currently engaged in a game of assassins. Death is applied through Stickers of Doom.

Eleven Hours on Campus

Spent 11 hours on campus today. Remarkably survived my HIS138A midterm but I have two midterms on Thursday, in HIS138C and ECN162. VEN3 was cancelled today, or more specifically the field trip to the vineyard was cancelled due to transportation problems, so I went to HIS130A (Medieval Warfare) instead.
After class I went with Kristy to see Goodfellas, which her Italien-American Cinema class was showing. Altogether I was on campus for about 11 hours.

This evening I randomly perused the wikipedia some more, and came across the following choice quote regarding the Battle of Hastings in 1066:
Legend has it that William's minstrel Taillefer, who had accompanied the army across the English Channel, begged his master for permission to strike the first blow of the battle. Permission was granted, and Taillefer rode forward alone in a showy display to the English lines where he was promptly pulled from his horse and killed.

   What a noob.

Incomprehensable!

Today I distributed voter registration cards and campaign flyers around my complex for Lamar Heystek, city council candidate. A B-52 flew over while I was doing this, it was cool.

I'm rather disappointed in the comprehension level of the people in my english class. Today we (1) discussed at length why the Roman generals Scipio Africanus and Scipio the Younger were in the story we were reading (Parliament of Fowls), and then we moved on without anyone drawing any parallels, to (2) a discussion of why Chaucer mentions in the beginning of the story a story by Cicero which this one was based on and happens to be titled "The Dream of Scipio."
Discussion on point 1 resulted in no real conclusions or hypotheses. Discussion on point 2 featured such things as "I think he was showing off that he's read classic books." Finally I offered "maybe he references the story because this one is largely based on it and it completely accounts for the reason the Scipios are in the story...?" Just a thought...

I learned at the ASUCD Senate meeting last Thursday that 30% of all chalkings are erased within an hour, and 80% are gone by the end of the day. Of course there would be definitive research into this topic.

...aaaand internet connection went down, so I can't do anything more with this tonight.
