New Quarter

Fall Quarter 2004
   School started on Thursday, so I've already been to three of my classes, Swedish 1, ENL104B (Legal Writing), & HIS113 (History of Modern Israel ("especially since 1948")). POL179 (Institutional Effects on International Relations) occurs only on Monday and Wednesday so I haven't had it yet. Also I'm auditing RUS129 (Russian Film), since I have already taken it for credit. I have no classes on Fridays.
   This quarter RUS129 will be viewing the following films:

Friday Night
   Kristy and I got ourselves all sleazed up for the "sleazy" themed party hosted by blushbystander, codetoad & porcelain999 (and one other?) in their new house. Presumably more updates about the party will come up for me to link to, and hopefully some pictures will even turn up (I saw them being taken).
   Rob Roy also introduced a novel new form of collecting money for parties. Last year some experimentation was done in this area that involved moving from charging everyone at the door to charging specifically for use of cups. Yesterday however, Rob Roy declared that everyone had to pay to leave in order to cover expenses.

   On that note, the cops have a new "zero tolerance" policy for partying. They don't give warnings anymore. They are no longer content merely to issue noise violation tickets. Allegedly they are now arresting on first offense all those villianous transgressors who dare to host parties.
   Now I've heard of zero tolerance before for things that constitute a clear and present danger to others, such as weapons in schools, but I do believe zero tolerance for parties (the evil of which is that they create a disturbing amount of noise for neighbours) is really rather overboard.


In Other News
   Reading the California Aggie on Thursday one of the first things I'd noticed is that two former ASUCD Senators were recently arrested for criminal activities committed on campus back in 2002. The former senator is accused of six felony charges including but not limited to arson and grand theft auto (and I don't mean he spent too much time playing GTA). Hooray for ASUCD senators. (article)
