24 of 30 - Guest Opinion!
Jun. 24th, 2005 06:43 pm This morning my mother threatened to remove me from her friends list. [Because the sheer weight of all the blather was beginning to bog down the blog! (guest editor's note)] By mid-afternoon however, she was offering to write a guest entry!
Tonight's entry concerns the very real similarity between the words BLOG and BLATHER. I have quizzed the staff at emosnail whether the subject of this blog is "Blathering about blogs" or "blogging about Blather." Seriously, I think recent posts have covered both perspectives quite thoroughly.
For those of you unfamiliar with the word blather (is such a thing possible, when one is familiar with the staff at emosnail?) one may refer to a definition here. One wonders if the word blather is actually composed primarily from the root word LATHER, having to do with excessively AIR FILLED foam. [or perhaps one is proverbally foaming at the mouth at that point]
Another germane question is whether the useful term BLOVIATE is a hybrid of BLOG and BLATHER, or possibly BLOW (as in hot air) and BLOG, or possibly all three simultaneously.
Personally I long for the days when the staff at emosnail commented on REAL LIFE, his (their?) own or others'.
