aggienaut: (nuke)

So I was feeling all crafty and full of forethought because I'd backed up everything important on my laptop in anticipation of it crashing. By the time it reduced itself to a smoldering shell* of a computer, all my stuff was backed up on the shiny new dell computer in the bonus room here.

The shiny new computer in the bonus room here has reduced itself to a smoldering shell of a computer.
What are the odds? I think I'm going to develop a nervious tick.

*I don't mean that literally of course

There of course is a lot to report on the last week or so. I find working on this ancient computer to be quite tedious though so I'm going to procrastinate that.
But I will say that last week I got stung over a dozen times on my legs in one ten minute span of time. Over the preceeding month and a half I'd been stung four times in total.

Ode to the Pint
Today I went into a taco bell or some such fast food place and ordered a 16oz soda among other things. The guy put in front of me a cup that could have been no bigger than 8oz. "I'm sorry, I ordered the 16 ounce" says I. "that IS the 16 ounce" says the guy as if I'M the idiot. "If you went to a bar and ordered a pint, how would you feel if you got handed THAT?" says I, "16 ounces is a pint." He glares at me and hands me the actual 16oz.

I always ask for 16oz drinks because I'm tired of guessing the difference between a medium, regular, tall, venti, vendredi, and what have you. I especially won't have anything to do with Starbucks' silly naming game. I settled on 16oz before I even realized that 16oz, the pint, really has been determined by centuries of drinking experience to be the optimum size of a beverage. Hence, the pint. Also, energy drinks come in 16oz cans. Sodas come in 12oz but thats a calculated attempt to leave you unsatisfied. Steel reserve comes in 24oz, but you best go for the 40oz because I swear the aluminum gives it a funny taste.

My computer crashed and burned during the summer two years ago, if not last summer as well, it appears to be a tradition. I don't feel like looking for links because as I said I find working on this computer highly tedious.
