Yesterday, Saturday, was "Picnic Day" here in Davis. I saw some official publicity literature proclaiming it "a giant open house party." Presumably that was intended to be read as "open house party," but it could just as aptly be read as "open house party." It is by far the biggest holiday in Davis.
Among college students, if you are not drunk by 11am, you are way behind the curve. The revelry continues throughout the day and into the night.
This year I didn't get very many photos, but some others did. Here's a selection of photos of different aspects of the events, by various people:

Jenn de la Vega walking with the KDVS float during the parade the quad people getting belligerent battle of the bands resupply lines snake out the door of fast n sleazy Party on a roof

My friend Mara happened to be visiting from SF. Reportedly she was impressed by how friendly everyone in Davis is and how fun picnic day was. I only saw her for a short bit on campus while the ska band was playing and later at a part off Radcliffe & Anderson though, as she had her own contingent of ruckus causers to hang out with. She also continued her undefeated poker-sharking habit by annihilating her friends at poker, apparently.
Otherwise, adventures of picnic day can by summarized as the usual picnic day shenanigans.

I actually missed an MUN conference to be here, which illustrates how important picnic day is. However, I sent my assistant, Vice Chief Justice Harney, to the conference in my place. Unfortunately it seems he wasn't prepared for the full PAXMUN experience properly, and had an unfortunate incident with some pear cider. He was also suprised to learn that I hear and see all that occurs at MUN conferences even when I'm not there; because you see I have transcended to become one with MUN.
Pyramids in Bosnia: there's a hill in Bosnie which is strangely angular and well, pyramid shaped. An archaelogist who has just spent the last 15 years studying pyramids in central America has proposed that this hill is actually a pyramid ... a pyramid 33% taller than the great pyramid of Giza. Now anyone can make saucy hypotheses like that, but preliminary excavations have revealed several ancient man-made tunnels, and what appears to be man-made blocks just below the surface of the hill!! Well, to be fair to myself, it wasn't just "some pear cider". After I had finished off the 6 pack of cider and went back to get more, only to be cock-blocked by San Diego's retarded ass municple laws which closed the liquor store by midnight, I started in on the vodka and wild cherry pepsi (which apparently was leftover for AMwest). After about a 2/3rds of a beer pitcher worth of that foul concoction, I wasn't feeling quite so hot, and by that time is was far too late.

Oh, and I found your little stool pidgeon, and I have chastised her appropriately. All and all I very good trip. I didn't put my best foot forward on friday night, but I think I recovered my social balance nicely.

1) I feel so honored to be noted in your LJ! Seriously, I really feel like a minor Davis celebrity. But, yeah, I think after Picnic Day I have more friends in Davis than I do in San Francisco. Of course, they all think my name is Clover, so that is pretty amazing.
2) You are not "one" with the FarWest MUN, and therefore you really cannot be, as you so claim, "transcended to be one with MUN." Sorry to burst your bubble there, friend.

1. Awesome. You'll just have to hang out here AMAP (as much as possible); and your new friends will introduce you to newer friends as Clover, and it will be an unstoppable snowball, and soon you will have to list your name on myspace as Mara-Clover (vis-a-vis Kristov-Nigel) ... and before you know it your childrens will be shocked when on your deathbed you inform them that your name isn't really Clover, among other things.

2. Well then at least I've been assimilated by PaxMUN, which is probably not a good thing.

Clearly, there is only one way to resolve this -- make a pilgrimage down to Davis next year for picnic day!!!

Were they up to their old habits of King's Cup and/or "fuzzy ducky" at the time?

I'm expecting a thorough report regarding the conference, complete with diagrams.

BTW, here is my report on my first PAXMUN conference, which also incidently, was my first paxmun conference; and Mara ([livejournal.com profile] blueashes below) is entirely to blame. (=

I believe they played King's cups on saturday night, but I crashed out fairly early in an aborted attempt to get enough sleep to not get sick. The report is forthcoming, but I can't upload my diagram as I don't have a premium account... :(

Just reading that list of alcohol consumed makes me nauseated.

I got drunk once. I'm pretty sure it was before 11 PM.
