Chris Hanson, & Being in the Middle of a National Disaster

Eureka! I have decided what/who I am going to be for Halloween: "Chris Hansen, Dateline NBC," the host of "To Catch a Predator"!!!

I can't wait to walk around with fake chatroom transcripts and confront my friends with hilariously awkward quotations I'll make up on the spot and allege they said. And he's got so many other silly mannerisms and trademark phrases ("the computer internets!!"), its going to be excellent!


In other news, I'm in a middle of a designated National Disaster Zone, allegedly the biggest evacuation in US history in fact. The other day you could see the flames from my street, only a few miles away (and it was only "30% contained!")

I can't see the fire through all the smoke, and haven't been able to find an updated map today, but I'm told it was up to 50% contained, and then dropped back down to 30% late yesterday, and is spreading to the south-east and north from where it was yesterday. Yesterday after work my car looked like it'd been snowed on there was so much white ash on it.

I have family there - most live in Coronado or down by the bay. However, my sister lives in Lemon Grove {on the hilly part just above it} and my cousin lives on Mt. Helix. I also have relos that live in Bonita.

I was there one summer, many moons ago {and I mean many moons} and I remember the ash falling like snow. Doesn't take long to build up, does it?

I hope that you keep your lungs safe. That stuff is nasty. I have a cousin with asthma and I assume she is having a tough time.

PS. In my Icon are my dog's costumes from last year. I dumpster dived them from a Costco-type store, here in AU. I hope I get some really good ones this year. The dogs love to dress up, too!

Too bad it doesn't seem to have the Santiago fire on it at all. )= I guess its a San Diego county oriented map. d= Certainly has a lot of information on those fires though! I had no idea there was a fire in Camp Pendleton, but it looks like MOST of camp pendleton is on fire!!

Try to jump from there to another google map of your county. I think this one is updated by a radio station or something. I see 'call letters'

Horrible. Do they know what started these? Santa Ana {sp?} winds or ciggie out the window or foul play?
