It's official, I have created the [livejournal.com profile] ljshootout* community! Rush over there and join it asap!! (and tell your friends to as well!)

I also posted an introductory post there about the concept and plan. You should read it. (:

The provisional start date is July 24th.

Please help me make this undertaking awesome by participating, and helping me create an awesome concept. Any advice is more than welcome.

Also, opportunities currently available to win yourself fame and glory by making icons or layout for it! :D

* If you don't recall my previous mention of the idea, basically the idea is to have an LJ Idol style competition entirely about photography (that is, taking pictures, not talking about it).

It looks very fruitful, I would join but I don't have a camera.. but I will at least spread word about it for you. :)

No camera phone? nothing? I think it would be fun to have some camera phone contestants running around in the beginning. (:

Nope, I had one but no longer.
Hopefully I will get a actual camera soon.

it's a fun concept, just keep in mind that there can be a huge difference between amatuer photographers work and professional photographers work. Plus that many professional photographers have huge friends lists.

Not saying to change the rules, just something to keep in mind if you get any professionals

Yeah I've thought about that, but I don't want to ban them so we might just have to deal with a all-professional shootout at the end ... if any deign to join my little project here in the first place. I'm thinking hopefully I'll have enough entrants to have multiple tribes, a la Idol, and in which case I'll probably keep the professionals cordoned off in their own tribe until the end of tribalism.

I think it'll be fun. Maybe get some constructive criticism and learn a thing or three. I'll also spread the word.

I like this concept! I have an almost-new digital camera I hardly use because I know little about the settings and such. Speaking of which, it might not be a bad idea to maybe add a trick or tip here and there when you go to post the week's topic...
