Though I agree that humanity tends to show its worst in cataclysmic disasters, it also reveals its best - so stories of looting and robbing circulate about New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina, but also about the husband and wife that started rescuing all the stranded families around them and never gave up, even though it was more dangerous for them to stay around.
