Looking at the satellite image, a huge ominous spiral of cloud hundreds of miles across was just above us. Seemed a bit alarming, but no one seemed concerned. I can't imagine not being concerned about that, but I grew up and live in North Carolina where we compare hurricane stories as a "get to know you" conversation starter. (My two big ones were Hugo in '89 and Floyd in '99. Floyd was a lot like Oswald's turning out to be.)
