And the thing is it's not just that she came off as abrasive to me it can be broken down into several identifiable categories of failure to exhibit diplomatic instincts: (1) failing to anticipate what might annoy the person you're talking to; (2) unnecessary blame laying -- in general "blame" almost never needs to be laid around it's not a constructive concept; (3) assuming individuals automatically represent the views and actions of their state of origin. Blaming one American for the actions of the US government is one thing but if we're out in the bush and people tell her the Fulani herdsmen loot their hives, which they do say, do I have to worry that the next Fulani we meet she's going to start accusing him of looting hives?
