Special Hearing on Jurisdiction
Friday afternoon the ASUCD Court had a Special Hearing on Jurisdiction, which much to my relief, was attended by the four other necessary court members, a plaintiff and a "special defendant."
Our official verdict hasn't been finalized yet. Its in the process of bouncing back and forth via email. Spent an exciting friday night writing the draft.

The Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Human Resources wants to meet with me. This makes me feel special.

Pre-Picnic Day RIOT
Having finally finished the above draft, I called the Kristy and she attempted to escape her complex. Leaving her apartment she finds her hallway filled with a dense white cough-inducing haze to the point that she couldn't see a few feet in front of her. Apparently someone had emptied a fire extinguisher into the hallway.
The rest of her escape involved being grabbed aggressively by disreputable looking guys, finding literally hundreds of persons, predominantly male, disreputable, and allegedly from out of town, milling around her complex. Aggressive tension was already in the air. Escape from the parking lot took half an hour.

So she came and picked me up, and we returned there around 2am. Police officers in riot helmets were waving cars past the street that leads to her complex (& the police station). Fire alarm klaxons and strobes could be heard/seen in the direction of the complex. Kristy: "but I live there! officer: "well then I feel sorry for you. We're in there using rubber bullets and making arrests, you don't want to be there. ...come back in forty minutes."
Ironically, one side of the controlled area was the police station itself.
The subject was covered in this conversation in [livejournal.com profile] ucdavis. Particularly, note Kristy's comment.

The Morning After
So the next morning we arrive at Sterling (we ended up just staying at my place the night before) to find broken glass all over the parking lot, broken windows, torn down exit signs. The door to Kristy's building won't open because its been relieved of its doorknobs, AND its all shot up from the police's riot-paintball-guns. Something ominous about the impact marks on it.
So we enter the other side of the building. All the internal hallway doors of the building are closed which is unusual - so what would normally be one long open hallway is a series of three doorways. Inside its dim and stuffy, with the smell of dried vomit and beer and various other things.
By the time we get to Kristy's compartment of the hallway, it feels like we're in a tomb. A thick layer of dust covers the ground and many discarded beer bottles - the settled fire extinguisher material. It looks like everything is covered by a dirty grey snow - that causes coughing.

Picnic Day
Kristy and I got to campus around 2 and tooled around a little bit. It was soon mad cold however.
This silly psychobilly band called the phenomabombers I believe was playing on the quad and they had the coolest van ever. We ended up having lunch over at Chi Phi before returning to Sterling.

In other news, every weekend I get woken up by reporters trying to interview me. My life is so difficult.

What kind of a crazy mixed-up college are you running over there?!?

haha - cops instigated a riot! That's precious... Who came up with that gem? Lemme guess: Cap'n Morgan!

Yea I think the purveyors of that theory are the type that would be inclined to declare the cops (or "the man") started anything even remotely associated with their presence.

I've been at calpoly through atleast 1 or 2 "riots" every year and each time it's the same story. Cops don't start riots - it's the bottle huckin' morons loaded on miller and coors. I'm not about to believe a guy that steps down from a keg-stand over the word of a dozen cops at the scene.
