aggienaut: (snail piracy)

Okay now that I have the pictures ready, its time to recount the events of the last few days of nonblogosphere life.

Shortly after making my post last Thursday, Kristy and I scampered off to The Pirate Ship for the party that was occuring there in lieu of the usual Thursday evening ASUCD Senate meeting. Senators Roy and Keene can be seen here gesticulating in unison in a tour de force of Senate cohesion.
Later that night Kristy and I had some Irish car bombs since we still had some guinness and fake baileys from some previous adventure.

Friday evening, my good friend Garian (file photo) came to town. She used to attend Davis but about two years ago migrated to Eugene, Oregon, so now I see her like once a year. We ate at Thai Bistro, where the service was unusually bad. It took them over half an hour before they took our order, despite the fact we were ready after like 5 minutes. Altogether we were stuck there for an hour and a half and I wanted to shoot myself. I think they had one waiter for everyone that was there at the time or something. There Garian confessed her undying love for local columnist, politician, and Safeway checker Lamar Heystek, and was especially ensorcelled to learn he has a twin brother. We immediately proceeded to Safeway so she could finally meet the infamous Heystek. There we also bought a salad for Kristy, who was imprisoned in a tower in The Colleges at the time, studying for a final. Then we stopped by The Pirate Ship where the party was still going on 24 hours later.
Eventually we met up with our friend Ben. Now see, the very first evening I went out upon arriving at Davis freshman year, the first four people I met were in order: Teresa Kenny, Benjamin Stevenson, Kalen Gallagher, and Garian Cika. Gallagher and I would go on to run against eachother for Senate and both be involved in ASUCD for the next three and a half years or so before I finally outlasted him (= , Garian, Ben and I would become really good friends, at least until I dropped off the face of the planet under 21 units at the end of freshman year, and Teresa would go on to do her Teresa thing, which would include being the director of KDVS and eventually even running for Senate herself.
Anyway Garian doesn't go here anymore and I've hung out with Ben once a year since freshman year (on my birthday), so it was like a pleasant little reunion. We went to Froggy's (my first time there, my second time in any Davis bar), where Garian and I drank real beer while Ben drank some kind of flavoured water (ie beer thats not dark). Ben also wants me to mention that he's single. Ladies... (=

Saturday evening the IRE190 class had a pot-luck at the Ambassador's house, which was like an hour and a half away. The house was pretty neat.

That evening Kristy and I decided on a crazy experiment. I felt like getting some Cisco, which is this flavoured malt liquour ("this is NOT a wine cooler!!!" -label) that tastes rather aweful but will cause one to become intoxicated quite swiftly and nicely. Kristy suggested mixing this with 7-up or ginger ale, so we tried both (not at once), and it was quite good! Thats right, it turned around from being a terrible chore to imbibe to being really quite pleasant. Later I even used some merely to flavour some 7-up for Kristy (ie added just a skoshe of it - and added a raspberry as a garnish) and the resultant negligably alcoholic beverage had a quite pleasant strawberry flavour. We decided to name this new beverage Sass in a Glass (at this time that refers to both the 50-50 mix and the one with just a touch of Cisco). And so we conclude the year with one more brilliant discovery in the name of science!!

Also somewhere in here Kristy and I watched the movie Hero and were decidedly underwhelmed. It just tried way too hard to be surreal and dramatic, in our humble opinion.

Picture of the Day

I didn't take this picture (obviously) but I thought it was cool. My mohawk clearly needs to be redyed.

   Two Years Ago Today:
Four Worst Things to Happen This Week - Notably including being kicked in the head while unconscious, which was followed shortly by an ambulance ride and still leaves lingering bitterness towards UCDPD officer Calvin Chang. In fact I have a pin that says "DIE OFFICER CHANG" on my desk. I ought to take a picture of it if I explain shiznaz again (becuase I have a lot of shiznaz to explain). I of course by no means mean that to actualy be a threat on the officer's life nor do I in any way advocate threatening or actually harming any officers, but rather it represents by displeasure at his incompetence and subsequent (& successful) race-baiting campaign to get unfired from the police force. In other news, I talk about The Dominion of Blehtahepdakorum in the entry. I was recently disappointed to learn that in order to become a psychotic dictatorship again I'm going to have to intentionally move my economy down from what was once rated as "strong" to "struggling" or worse.

IMHO,I think maybe it's time to move on from the mohawk. Why not get an earring?

And how come you have time to do 30 in 30 in June? I'm suffering trying to finish a term paper...aren't you?
