Originally I resolved to start a livejournal to tell the many random stories I end up with. Soon I realized that just about every day had a story that was worth telling if I told it right. I've been determined not to write when I have nothing to say, and so far every day there has been something to talk about. Monday however, was a pretty uneventful day. I've got a few thoughts on it that I shall write, but I hope I don't get in the habit of feeling obligated to make an entry a day. d=
The weather was wonderful today. It was all "dreary" and not quite even drizzling but big fat drops sparsely fell all day. It was wonderful. I was in a really good mood today, rather inexplicably. I think the weather had a lot to do with it. When its all sunny like last week it makes me feel like crap. It saps my energy and my will to live. Also I had neither work today nor meetings that kept me on campus late so it was nice to have a day just to relax.
In my CRD discussion today we were divided into three groups to discuss the readings and address specific questions about them. I despise group work. The complete inability to question or critically review the readings on the part of the other members of my group simply disgusted me. These people aren't freakin sentient, they just accept what they're told and regurgitate it upon demand. I was too disgusted with the utter lack of intelligence on the part of the other group memebers to participate myself.. on any account if I had said "I think the author was full of it" it would be so far from what they were discussing their brains would implode.
I happened to check for the latest strongbad while I was procrastinating writing the CRD paper so that was funny.
Umm yea thats everything. I have so much studying to do for my first day of real work at IHOP on Wednesday. /=
I was reunited today with my copy of The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914), among other things via a package from home. So to share the vast wisdom of this book I'm going to institute a definition a day. Today we'll start with dictionay itself.
DICTIONARY: A malevolent literary device for cramping the growth of a language and making it hard and inelastic. This dictionary, however, is a most useful work.
