Tuesday. 25th Day of February.
People are so silly. So very very silly.
This week there has been a petition posted on various walls and doors and similar prominant places. A petition condemning a recent instince of racist graffiti directed towards the occupants of the house graffitied.. or something along those lines ..in this little town of Davis. And now I condemn such behavior as much as anyone else, but seriously now, why the petition? They sure as hell are NOT going to convince the racists behind this that they shouldn be racist just by dispersing a flyer with a fairly pitiful number of names on it. If its to show support for the family of the victims, I'm sure there are better ways to do that. Rather I think the reasoning behind this petition is to enable the petitioners to feel okay about themselves, and nothing more. It gives them a feeling of rightiousness and superiority over the evils of the world.. and well, I think its just a pitiful way to make themselves feel okay about whatever issues led them to feel so insecure in the first place. Or maybe I'm just to cynical for my own good.
By far the biggest news of today however is that upon coming home from a two hour expedition to Krispy Kremes with Lisa, I found this messege from Vanessa: "[01:43] vannybodanny: I quit today...so No" (as regards my query as to whether she could possibly take my thursday shift, as it came to my attention today that this upcoming weekend's Model UN conference actually starts on Thursday). Today was the first day IHOP here in Davis was open, and consequently of course the first day of work for Vanessa and/or anyone else that worked today. And she's HELLA better than I. So I'm a bit panicked to find out why she quit... she seemed to be doing fine up till now. I have my own first day tomarrow and am planning on spending most of tonight studying how to make everything. (And just when I thought Vanessa was about to break her streak of livejournal appearances she comes and grabs the headline. What a ham).
And a word that has nothing to do with todays topics:
