In the News Today
Officer Calvin Chang: Officer Calvin Chang believes that if three oafs wearing gang paraphenalia start a fight with one skinny guy for no reason, knock him unconscious, kick him in the head while he's unconscious, and then run off yelling "west side," its just a fight. He also gets in a lot of car crashes. But when he subsequently got fired oh noes it was clearly racism, orientationism, or something-ism, because he's a gay asian man! So he filed a lawsuit and got reinstated.
But getting reinstated wasn't enough, he hungered for vengeance -- or at least the big bucks -- so now he's suing the Regents of the University of California for discriminatation. Whats the cause of action this time? Other officers allegedly have been making fun of him.
Not to editorialize or anything, but Calvin Chang is clearly a ninny. Lets see him give case #D306-992 even a millionth of as much consideration as he spends daily thinking about how he can get more milage out of spurious lawsuits.

Officer Ly: once gave Kristy a ticket for an illegal U-Turn. The turn was illegal, its true, but Officer Ly wrote down the wrong colour for Kristy's car, and put the incident at a different (busier) intersection a block away. He was also a witness at the case I had jury duty for, but I was dismissed before I could find out what kind of hijinks he was involved in this time. More recently, he was the main instigator of the high profile Halema Buzayan case.
Basically a vehicle was found to be damaged, and Officer Ly through some kind of arcane divining determined that the culprit was 16 year old Halema Buzayan. Buzayan's father paid damages to the vehicle owner and both parties were satisfied, only Ly continued to press the case, even having Halema arrested. Now I reserved judgement on this issue despite the many and vocal supporters of the Buzayan's, as we had only heard their side of the case really and I figured there HAD to be more. But today the Honourable Judge Warriner dismissed the case, which I take as the authoritative word that "Officer Ly is trippin."
Now the Buzayan's are filing a case of their own against Ly.

For more information read the Daviswiki page. And someone, please clean that thing up, I can't even tell whats going on with so much information dispersed in comments.

Former ASUCD President Sara Henry: is apparently running for president again, this time of the UC Davis law school student association. Do the law students read the daviswiki? I hope they catch on to the fact that her involvement in student government here has left only a trail of bad leadership, scandal, and a lot of furniture no one wants to touch.

blah I hate it when people are so self-righteous as to make everything that happens to them about their race or sexual identity or religion

MAYBE YOU ARE JUST A SHITTY PERSON even if you happen to be gay, asian, and a bad driver.
Just because you have all these socially problematic identifiers doesn't mean you're not a shitty person anyway.

but that's a good intro

Well, I'm glad the Halema case was dropped, because then hopefully CAROLE will shut up a bit, and because the grounds really weren't there from a civilian's perspective. It was worrying me, because what would have it said about us as a people if it hadn't been?

You never guessed who was going to win the UTD election, did you?

Bashir ended up winning, but only by three votes - and at first count, the vote was tied.

oh my money was on that one girl I think. Though Bashir was a good bet too since the incumbant advantage is strong in situations where corruption is easy to get away with, such as student governments.

so now you get a football team eh?
