Picture of the Day

This picture is currently the "most interesting" picture from picnic day on Flickr. It has been viewed 81 times at the moment and one person favourited it. It originally had 3 tags (which are of course simply notations added for sorting purposes).
Now this picture WAS actually 3rd most "interesting," behind this picture with 10 views, 1 favourite, & 12 tags, and this one (14 views, 1 favourite, 12 tags). Then on a hunch I added ten more tags to my picture, bringing it up to 13 and making it the most interesting picture.

I would have liked to think that my 70 view lead counted for more weight than ten completely arbitrary tags (yeah "california" is going to help you sort that one). Anyway, two bandoes have swamped flickr with pictures of the marching band standing around at picnic day and loaded them all up with 12 tags each, so thats pretty much all you see on the picnic day 2006 tag now. d=
I feel so disillusioned, I had thought that the "interestingness" function on flickr actually selected pictures that were, well, most interesting. Explains why the top finding on big queries (like say the California one) have a million tags and things.

The other day I discovered The Kingdom of Loathing. An RPG that is both excellent and not overly time consuming. I have created a character named Blehtahepdakor Forkbeard, who is a pastamancer.

Deep Thoughts from HIS121A (the Dark Ages)
Teacher: "so these groups were migrating across the continent over the course of fifty years or so, and its not like they were keeping their pants zipped -- I mean you can't even cross this campus on a Saturday night without finding people 'mixing'"
"...not that I've ever seen a 'snuff film' ... well except for 'The Passion'" (also the teacher)
We had a popquiz the other day on the reading, of which I hadn't done any at all. Today we got out grades back ... the teacher wrote on the test that she thought I could do better ... I had an A-.

This morning at 8am I had to do an informative speech for my intro to public speaking class (CMN1). I did it on Daviswiki.

Three Years & Ten Days Ago Today:
Journal of Humbaba the Demon - A short little story for ENL5F. Also, my social life declared clinically dead.
Three Years & Nine Days Ago Today: Surge Spigot - I talk to Vice President Kalen Gallagher about converting one of the several (I know of three offhand) abandoned fire stations on campus into a music venue. The idea gathered some momentum for awhile but eventually fizzled away as someone's unaccomplished campaign promise or something. Also, had dinner with my friend Kristy at the DC.
Three Years & Eight Days Ago Today: Hella Salami Time - I go to the DC with my friend Kristy and invent the "Hellof Salami Sandwich." It has been a staple of my diet ever since.
A Week & Three Years Ago Today: Ramen Trove - I actually go as someone's date to a sorority cocktail. Also I make fun of my English teachers proposed revisions for one of my stories again, and find a secret ramen trove deep in my cupboards.
Three Years Ago Tomorrow: Hardcore Show & the Hippie Cafe II - Hardcore bands Men in Black Pajamas & The List play at Delta Venus. Philip Neustrom gives me pie, but I don't know him yet!
Three Years Ago Last Friday: The Uganda / Congo Conflict - Uganda & Congo have overlapping rebel movements. Uganda & Sudan has overlapping rebel movements. Sudan & Chad have the overlapping rebel movements I've written about recently. As you can see, its all connected. Central Africa is a bigger mess than the middle east, but they prefer machetes to carbombs (really).
Three Years Ago Last Saturday: Natalie Kempkey - Hung out with Natalie Kempkey. Ran into Jordan "J2" Smart.
Three Years Ago Last Sunday: A Day In Verse! - "... /Then braved I bureacracy thick, / To third floor M.U. I bravely ascended! / Black heart of A.S.U.C.D I upward descended, / And returned I unscathed! /For no Weissman waylaid me, / No Mary Vasquez did liberally sue me, / Merely Vicki Swett to sway me tried, / But rightious Chief Justice I, / Bravely disregard these dread sirons. / ..." ...and I find friend Kristy ensconced in the Social Sci tower
Three Years Ago Last Monday: "Goddamn You Half Japanese Girls" - ANONYMOUS IDENTITY FINALLY REVEALED: the quoted individual was none other than Nick Arora. The girl in question was one Uzard Chang.
Three Years Ago Yesterday: Spirit of the Brown Act - RECENTLY DECLASSIFIED: I advise the Senate that they're really taking the Brown Act way too seriously, also that its good they are polarized and that public figures such as they shouldn't whine about how the public criticizes them but rather expect it.
Three Years Ago Today: Cheerleaders, Ramen & Waffles - I get drunk with four cheerleaders and have waffles with them in the morning. Also Kristy leaves one of her first comments to this livejournal. [livejournal.com profile] wdsguy also comments, which is significant because he would go on to become my flatmate a year and a half later.

Hey, you're playing KoL now; that's awesome. I've been playing for about a year now, so it's pretty addictive for a stick-figures-fighting-monsters-and-drinking-booze game. I'm Doctor Fettuccini (#522002) in game.

A Chief Justice is You!
