The above is the second-to-last picture taken on my camera. I'd have had it exactly three months today. Canon said there's a small chance its repairable and took it to look at, but they didn't sound very optimistic. )=

In other news, on a job today, after I'd put one bucket of honey in the truck and gone up for the second one, apparently this guy put his finger in the bucket (which is labelled "DO NOT EAT!!!" in big red letters) and tasted the honey. We never would have known if his wife hadn't casually mentioned "yeah my husband tasted it and said it was good!"
Aside from the fact that the bucket clearly says "DO NOT EAT!!!" (three exclamation points included), the guy had WATCHED up pump the colony full of pesticides. And on top of that, I wouldn't eat anything that came out of an attic myself. I wouldn't eat a sandwich that came out of an attic, I wouldn't eat a doughnut that came out of an attic, and I CERTAINLY wouldn't eat pesticide-coated honey that I found in an attic.
We gave him copies of the MSDS (Bob later commented "I actually read that MSDS, that stuff is pretty intense!), circled and had him sign the part of our invoice that says the chemicals are toxic, told him that we officially recommend he contact a doctor immediately, and got his email address so the office can send him another dire warning in writing. He yawned and shrugged it off, I'm pretty sure he thinks its no big deal. I (fortunately!) don't actually know what happens if you injest a small amount of that stuff, but I suspect he will at least get gnarly flaming diarrehia -- and he's deserve it! What a noob.

Lately I've been trying to read the "odd news" every day, as I've found its usually pretty entertaining. This came up the other day which I thought was pretty funny:
The 14 branches of the Tari Bunia Bank in the South Pacific island of Vanuatu act as traditional banks (checking accounts, loans, mortgages), but also accommodate local tribesmen by accepting tusks, woven mats, shells, giant rocks and other items for deposit into individual accounts at traditional bartered rates. An additional benefit of taking in the items, according to a July BBC News dispatch, is that bank robberies are rare, thanks to the "spirits and snakes" guarding the artifacts. [BBC News, 4-7-07]
   Giant rocks!!

But for serious, I'm pretty depressed about my camera. )=
