In portland. Can't find internet access. Couldn't find it in any other city on this trip except point reyes station! Last year i found it in every pod unk town in iowa - why's the west coast hate the internet??

** Edit 15:30 ** - Found internet in the Albina Press coffee shop. ...in general I hate cities, but so far I rather like this town.

Awesome. Yeah in Ohio or some such state you'd think would be less technologically advanced had it in all their rest stops when we went through last year.

I always find it in the weirdest placed. Found it outside a Hooters (emanating from the hooters!) in Texas, and, this time, in this tiny little town of Point Reyes Station.

Right now I'm in a cafe in Portland (=

I just drive into a random residential neighborhood, open my computer, and connect to my nation-wide free wireless internet service provider, "linksys".

Just people who have wireless access points but who didn't change the ESSID (wireless network name) from its default. You should be able to connect...

Up until recently we had free wireless randomly throughout Portland. The company just ended its fairly crappy service though. This is useful though: http://www.wifipdx.com/

If you're ever in a bind, the Portland International Airport also has free Wireless all throughout.
