Last night I wrote up a good sized livejournal update ... and then my computer reset itself while I wasn't looking (and for some reason lj no longer auto-saves itself on my computer?)

Needless to say, I was rather displeased. And usually when it resets itself its for updates of software I really don't care about and it can wait until I feel like closing everything down and resetting, rather than when I'm in the middle of something and felt like a bathroom break.

How can I make my computer NOT reset itself of its own volition?

Thanks. Changed it, hopefully this'll solve the problem.

Its not just the annoyance of losing whatever I had left open, it also kinda irked me in principal that my computer could make such decisions on its own and go around downloading and installing things without consulting me.

Also I had tried "computer resetting self" combined with other likely words into google but to no avail /=

Bummer, I die a little inside when that happens to me.

Yeah and then I really don't want to write the entry over again, so if I still write about the events at all its a very short passive aggressive and bitter sounding entry.

Have you tried hitting it? Violence is always an acceptable answer. Alliteration, also.
