Presidential debate yesterday. Candidates said pretty much what I expected them to do, so it wasn't very remarkable. However, I think what was remarkable was the audience -- they were all freaking zombies!!

Seriously. Not only did they sit bolt upright the whole time and not smile, but when one was asking a question, the ones beside him/her wouldn't look at her as is normal but would continue to stare blankly ahead. Creepy I tell you.

Apparently they were asked to show no emotion. The commentary following declared them the victors of the debate.

Hahaha really? thats funny.

I was joking that they got those people who play dead people in movies (people do that right? those dead bodies don't look like fake people) to be the audience.

Yeah, they're real people. It's cheaper that way.

Makes sense, but that doesn't mean its not extremely silly that people DO that. I wonder if there's a premium for the really skilled ones that can not even twitch for hours.

And/or I wonder if any bloopers made it into films where the supposedly dead body twitches a bit.

We have an election coming up next week, and our debates are pretty much the oppositon trashing the incumbent. Nothing seems to be getting done. Its absolutly ridiculous.

Ahh politics. d=

You ever see Filibuster Cartoons? Some of them are quite funny, despite the author being a bit conservative. And he's Canadian so a lot of them are about Canadian politics.

I thought that the format of the town meeting last night did not serve McCain well. --Mostly because he kinda limps around. We've seen both candidates working a crowd. Obama is a pleasure to watch. There's a spring in his step and a beautiful smile on his face. Now we all know why McCain limps around. Every one of us recognizes that he was injured as a POW and gives him due credit for that. But compared to Obama, it just illustrates all too plainly that he (relatively speaking) is an OLD MAN. An old man who could die. And then what do we have? Sarah Palin

Speaking of Sarah Palin, how can McCain even begin to refer to the "lack" of experience Obama has when (1) (as we've already pointed out) He's an old man who limps and might crump any day and (2) Sarah Palin is his back-up? Let me repeat that: (2) Sarah Palin is his back-up?

I felt that McCain overdid his harping on what a great "cross- the- aisle" legislator he's been. What are we electing, a legislator? No. Psst, we need a president. Frankly I'd rather have a diplomat and a thinker, someone with charisma. Someone I don't mind looking at. Someone who is easy to listen to because he makes sense when he talks. Someone who will probably still be breathing during the next 8 years.

Back to totally un-substantive things. Last time they debated, O, (Who apparently identifies with this topic) snidely commented that McCain, being "mature" must really have to pee. After all, one and a half hours is a pretty long time to be standing there under the hot lights answering tricky questions. After last night's debate it was explained later that McCain had quickly left the stage. Obama stayed behind for a good 20 minutes or more, greeting people and evidently signing autographs. I guess we can imagine where John went. ..to the john.

Perhaps it's not really important but I think we need a president who isn't requiring extra time scheduled in for running off to the loo. Self control, as McCain himself has stated, is pretty important, after all. How about during those inevitable high summit meetings. "Excuse me, Vladimir, but I need to find the restroom. Er, that's OK, I certainly still know where it is."

Let's hear it for youth, agility, and bladder control!

At the very least if we get McCain / Palin I think we will have endless comedy in the form of Palin
