I thought I'd do something the lovely [livejournal.com profile] boxsofrain did a bit ago, and declare a Friendzy (Friending frenzy!). Actually I'm not sure she intended for it to work out quite like this but it did: (1) answer the following questions in a comment; (2) As Boxes says, "Also to make this more fun, feel free to read other peoples comments and reply to them with something nice about them. ... Make friends, add each other, mingle, just please be nice." (3) extra points if you mention the Friendzy in your own LJ and send people over to the party! (=

Story Behind Your LJ Name: Named after a song by one of my favorite artists (I grew up in the early 90's, 'k?)
Favourite LJ Community: I don't really have one, although I enjoy reading [livejournal.com profile] useless_facts

I am trying to break my posting addiction, but I still read my friends list daily. I view the people on my FL as actual friends and often only keep around the folks that interact with me regularly. Other random factoids are:
  • I keep a frugal living blog.
  • ....because I'm a single parent of three boys.
  • I have a love of reading (and sometimes writing) poetry.
  • I am a recipe whore.

"Alphabet manipulator" hahaha.

What is the origin of "Beldar" specifically as a nickname though?

I forget I think I might have already commented on that I know some cool bee researchers in Pullman (I think we had this discussion already though, possibly even after someone else's friendzy)

Who is Josh Groban?

Also thanks for the historical notes! That was the kind of fun information I was looking for! (=

It sounds so much nicer than "copy editor" and covers being a writer of original stuff as well.

Beldar was originally the name of the male Conehead played by Dan Akroyd on Saturday Night Live. Since I'm kind of a space case and my last name is "Belden" it seemed inevitable that someone would tag me with the alien moniker.

Ah yeah. The transition from Belden to Beldar makes sense. It would be a suprise if it didn't happen.

Occupation: College Student. Majors are history and psychology.
Story Behind Your LJ Name: Birgit was my name in my high school German class and Riddle...well, I used to be in Harry Potter fandom and my favorite character was Tom Riddle, so I grabbed the last name. I like the screen name, so when I dropped out of fandom, I kept it.
Favourite LJ Community: [livejournal.com profile] pimp_my_altar because I like to look at pretty pictures of altars.
Oddest Pet you might like to have (but don't): A snake. I've had one before, but it died. ;_;
Favourite Historical Event: I suppose the whole thing over the Ems Dispatch. I doubt it's really over looked in Europe, but in America, it probably is.
Picture: This is sadly the most recent picture.

I write about my life, what I read, what I watch (which includes anime), what video games I play, and occasionally go on rants and babble on about random historical stuff, mostly dealing with 19th century Europe or WWI. I also post memes because I get bored. I also write, but any of my original writings don't get posted due to reasons of not wanting that to get in the way of possible publication. I will however post whatever random letters to the editor that I write.

a fancy name for a law firm grunt basically.

I work in the conflicts department of law firm and do research to make sure no conflicts of interest exist when lawyers want to bring on new clients. If there is, then I make sure they get the correct consents or waivers to cover the firms butt.
Then once all the i's are dotted, and t's are crossed then I open the matters in a database so attorneys can bill time and all that good stuff.

Thanks, it's my favorite thing to wear. I got it at the MN Ren Fest a few years ago.

A bit of tricky diplomacy work and creative editing of a message on the part of Bismarck so that France would be offended in hopes that it would create a pretext for the Franco-Prussian war. I think it worked.

Wikipedia probably does a better job of describing it than I.

There are 6 of us in the department for the whole firm which comprises 12 offices across the US and then we have a few overseas.

Some of the attorneys I work with probably see it as that.
