This weekend the tallship Spirit of Dana Point (pictured above) is sailing up to Santa Barbara, a trip I'm told will take about 24 hours, and I'm going with it!

Also today I was communicating with the the coordinator for the tallships Lady Washington & Hawaiian Chieftain, and it sounds like I'm in!! So I'll be doing that probably starting around the 29th of November! Provisionally I'm thinking for like 3 months.
Haven't decided yet if I'm going to go on the Lady Washington sailing up the Colombia, or the Hawaiian Chieftain, which will be bouncing around the Bay Area I think.

Also, next Wednesday I'm boating (no sails ): ) out to Catalina Island with my boss. We're going to go anchor in the little cove of Little Harbour and camp there overnight Wednesday and Thursday night. In addition to having a campfire and snorkling and all that fun stuff, we'll be lobster fishing (lobster catching? bobbing for lobsters?), as it will be the first day of the lobstering season.

After returning to the mainland on Friday I'll be flying up to the Bay Area (again), for my good friend Ben's wedding.

Aaaand of course we're now down to about 15 days until I leave for Turkey.
21 days until I arrive in Israel.
25 days until I arrive in Egypt.
   Etc. :D

Also be sure to vote in the current [livejournal.com profile] ljshootout poll, IT'S THE SEASON FINALE! And at the present moment it's a tie!! Exciting!!!

Yay for visas!!!

And yes, there will be computers you can use. All the hotels claim that they have a computer with internet access that is free. The hotel in Hurghada goes so far as to boast that they have an "internet cafe". Israel may be different since we are staying with family some of the time and I don't know about their personal computer and internet use. But never fear! Tel Aviv and Jerusalem have plenty of internet cafes. Our hostel in Massada offers free internet access but I don't know if there will be a computer so get your internet stuffs done while we are in Jerusalem before we go. Same deal with Eilat but if the hostel doesn't have a computer you can use, there is one internet cafe in town.

And yes, Aviv has told me all about your Mediterranean sailing schemes!

I've got a full plate of exciting vacationing in front of me already yet I'm still excited about this sailing the mediterranean plan. (: Went so far as to see online how much sailboats rent for these days ... but got distracted by how affordable it is to buy them ;) (40 footer for $8,000! granted its twenty years old and probably crappy...)
