So as you may have gathered, my boss (Dave) is kind of crazy.

This guy named Terry* used to work for Dave several years ago. Eventually he and Dave had a falling out, as is relatively likely to happen to people who are around Dave for any period of time. This left them on extremely bad terms and they didn't talk for many years after that.

A few weeks ago Terry apparently lost his job. In this troubled economy he couldn't find another one and quickly burned through his meagre savings.
Finally he was desperate and called the one person he knew would help him. He called Dave, whom he had not talked to once sent the fight. He was hoping Dave might have some kind of employment for him, but when he mentioned he'd barely been able to afford to eat lately, Dave invited him over for dinner immediately.

Despite our company not exactly being flush with cash, after several bad bee years, we've had Terry helping out around the bee cave several days a week lately.

So lest you picture Dave as merely a psychotic ogre, consider things like this, and think of him as a more complex ogre character.

And here's an old picture of him from years ago, looking particularly personable!

And of course that's what he did a two or three years ago. Told EVERYONE he was going to Amsterdam but somehow ended up in South Africa...

I know, I'm the one who busted him. (Shhh.) I went to try to sign him up for our frequent flyer program and get him some miles and when I pulled up his itinerary I was like "Fucking Buzzy." (Literally.) I notarized his damn divorce paperwork! Pissed me right the fuck off.

re "(literally)" LOL!

Yeah he can be a silly fellow. Oh in addition to buying Terry his flight to Seattle I just recently learned that that incompetent Mike who worked for us a little bit and then we fired him? Yeah Dave gave him a couple extra hundred dollars in parting as well because he apparently started actually tearing up about how he wouldn't be able to afford to live without the job. See: NOT MY PROBLEM assjerk.

He has such a good heart. This is why I'm always so concerned when old acquaintances come out of the woodwork. They know they can ask him for anything. I used to joke that if he wanted me to replace Amy so badly he'd just pay for me to break my lease and move back to California. But once upon a time, he really would have, and I just can't ask him for something like that. I'd be just another one of those awful people. Let's hope Terry stays in Seattle and we never hear from him again.

Yeah it's funny he talks a tough talk but when it comes down to it he does these things for people that I'm just like "YOU DID WHAT??"

Like his complete inability to fire people. Sure he can fire new people, mostly because they don't realize how bad he is at it and they take it. I think he's tried to fire every single one of the current employees (Except for mee! I'm not sure if he's tried to fire Jeremy either actually), but they know if they actually argue with him about it he'll relent. I don't know HOW many times he's tried to fire Amy!!!

And even Mike, you saw that entry on that ridiculous ridiculous last day I worked with him right? The next morning Dave tried and FAILED to fire him (after the aforementioned tears). Then Dave went out with him himself and finally decided just to tell him not to come back (over the phone, which was presumably easier).
