Bothering People's Boyfriends
Aug. 7th, 2003 07:52 pm "Mike doesn't like to go to Wild Rivers... because you're there. -Anna LeLoup. Sometimes the only satisfaction left is in the hate their current boyfriend reserves for you.
So Mike being out of town I of course hung out with Anna LeLoup. We went to "downtown disney" (dtd) with Camille and some other friends of theirs. Anna from the diedrichs crew called me while we were all hanging out so that was funny, talking to an Anna on the phone while hanging out with one.
Things that piss me off
People who call my car a "minivan." It is most devinitely NOT a minivan. It is a VAN. A "eurovan" in fact. But it certainly does not have the coffin-like enclosing smallness and lack of height that a minivan does, and I would not be caught dead driving a minivan.
People who don't like it when their favorite bands get popular. So now that their new song is out Hot Hot Heat has been getting mad play on the radio, including their old songs.. and even played at wild rivers today which was shocking because I thought they only had like ten year old cds or something.. and I couldn't be happier for Hot Hot Heat. Yay for them. But Some People, certain evil and malevolent people... get all feisty about bands getting famous and decide to declare themselves no longer a fan thereupon. I hate such people.
People were really pissing me off at work today. I hate people.

Date: 2003-08-09 08:14 am (UTC)Lessee... on this same subject I think more than once people have been like "flogging molly is getting big, what're you gonna do about it?" and I'm just like "ehh bite me focker."
And then there's the opposite... someone tried to tell me to go to a hip hop show in davis and I was like "I'd rather eat reheated bread" and they were like "whatever dude its local music and you should support it!" all pissed off at me.... freakin: Being small, local or whatever by no fuckin means makes music inherently good and by being big and famous or whatever sure as hell doesn't make it bad. I think anyone who doesn't realize this should be summarily shot.

Date: 2003-08-15 06:21 pm (UTC)you want to hear the epitome of what I'm talking about just go to kdvs.com (the uc davis radio station) and listen to whatever they are playing at that moment. The place prides itself in being uber "independant" and the music snobs and elitists down there honestly believe they are gods gift to music and are completely oblivious to the fact that they play nothing but crap. Well except apparently for "DJ Mike."
Dude if _I_ ever got a show down there I just wouldn't be able to abide by being "DJ" something... I'd feel dirty like a raver or something. I'd have to be Disc Pirate insteat or something... on any account I'd prolly be more likely to have a show where I make fun of the news headlines then another cliche music show. mmm making fun of news. I hate talk radio ... unless I am the one talking. muahahaha.

Date: 2003-08-09 02:10 am (UTC)Haha the new Hot Hot Heat song is Talk to Me, Dance With Me. Bandages has been out a bit... but its for awesome. I remember seeing a news story after 9/11 saying that a number of songs had been banned from radio stations in england because they might make people sad, one of them was Hot Hot Heat - Bandages. I was like.. yay they're being played in england!
