Topbar Hive Episode 1.2

aggienautI feel like I come off like a huge dorkus in video but my coworker says I sound fine so I'm going to go ahead and post this. I'm trying to get more used to making video posts anyway.
Bottom line, the swarm we put in to the topbar hive seemed to be doing well all weekend but sometime Sunday they decided there was somewhere else they liked better and jumped ship ("absconded" as we say). Note the piece of comb they were able to make in the three days or so they were there. It also looks like my plan to space the bars apart may have been successful in making them build comb going lengthwise down the bars. We're leaving the comb in there as well as throwing in a small tube of pheromone, in hopes it'll entice a passing swarm to move in on their own. Otherwise the next swarm we get our hands on we'll try again at introducing to the hive.
