Oh and subtly, subtly, I'm sure no one noticed, but contained herein is a great cultural achievement I am extremely proud of.

Do you see it do you see it???

No I'm not talking about the cat cursor.

I'll hide the answer under a distracting wall of lorem ipsom

"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur."

It actually began with the consultant pointing out that according to Australian usages, our style guide should have "commas outside of quotation marks", which, it's not so much because I'm American* that I object to it so much as I find it hideously unaesthetic. ( *after all I happily embrace metric measurements and declare both the US (AND Australia!) wrong on date format, YYYY-MM-DD is absolutely the only defensible format,** but I digress). But we're an Australian magazine how can I justify going against Australian style guides. Well... maybe if there's a third path. Look at that screenshot. Tell me where the commas are. They're not in front. They're not behind. They're UNDER the quotation marks muahahahahaha

**well okay I admit I'm partial to YYYY/MM/DD especially since it allows you to refer to a range of days as YYYY/MM/DD-DD

The consultant also pointed out that double space after periods is out of style (which aren't implemented here because livejournal itself stripped them out but I may put them in later entries in the hivejournal interface). I acted on a suspicion and a quick search revealed research actually supports double space after period as "reducing eye fixation by 3%," but the consultant rejoindered that it would waste a lot of time adding the double space into every entry. It wouldn't actually, I can run an article through Claude to do that to every period near instantaneously (and I do run articles through Claude for things like authors who capitalized every Damn Common Noun and other pervasive frustrating problems (with strict instructions not to change an iota other than what I told him to, and keep the original open as I then continue my line by line copyediting read through to make sure he didn't do anything he wasn't supposed to -- a lack of confidence against hallucinatory errors was the primary reason I originally switched from chatgpt to Claude, who doesn't seem to make any)), but I didn't want him to think I'm too much of an "AI Bro" that lets the AI do things willy-nilly, so I let him chalk that one up as a win, double spaces aren't a hill I'm willing to die on (though I do, personally, always honor The Old Ways).
