So Much For The Coffee House
Feb. 19th, 2003 12:13 am So much for free coffee, free food, and crazy stories of the exciting lives of cashiers; I got fired today.
I missed three shifts see, on account of sleeping through my alarm. I totally understand the legitimacy of firing under those circumstances, but neither do I really feel responsible for it. I had set my alarm, I had in good faith done everything I could be reasonably expected to do to ensure that I'd wake up for my shift. At the time any irresponsibility on my part would have been perpetuated I was unconscious. After the third incident I had even resolved to start setting two different alarms, a redundant failsafe as they say. So I really was doing everytihng possible to address the situation. Not that that has any affect on whether or not they should have fired me really.. its just why I don't feel personally guilty about it. It was out of my hands. I really loved that job though.
At my last job, as a lifeguard at Wild Rivers I worked for five years without a SINGLE late or absense.. I even worked with laryngitis. Craziness.
Coincidentally Vanessa got hired todat at the new Ihop thats opening in town. I guess I'll apply there tomarrow. Yesterday I was employed and she was not, now its vice versa.
Went to the student health center to make an appointment about the cough I've had forever. So thats on Thursday.. yea.. my cough sucks. I nearly died today I swear.. I had this itch in my throat which would NOT go away. d=
Ran into Antoinette briefly in the MU. She's cool. I like her.
And also just stumbled upon this.
The End
