School resumed on wednesday. I have class monday through thursday this quarter. I'm signed up for Recent US Foreign Policy, Analysis of US Foreign Policy, Consitution and Justice Systems, Judicial Process & Behaviour and swedish 2.
Professor Spriggs of POL153 (Proc & Behaviour) came off as a fangorious asshat in my opinion but others who have had him report he's alright. Looks like most of the class is going to be reading and discussing cases so I'm excited. He used the "if you don't have this prereq you WILL be dropped so I suggest you leave now" ploy. Of course they can't do that. Professors can't drop students under any conditions. I thought it was kind of funny to start a law class with a threat the teacher doesn't have the right to carry out.

I finally have a digital camera!! Parents decided finally to up and send me their old one and get a new one themselves. Now indeed a new era of photographic enlightenment shall reign upon Davis!

Prereq Appeasement

Well then, looks like they have to ask the registrar's office to do it for them, something I'd imagine is unusual and inconvenient for everyone involved.

My personal experience on the subject is (1) Professor Siverson in a class with a large waitlist once said that he'd drop everyone who missed the first two days of class so people on the waitlist could get in. On the third day of class he reported "well, turns out I can't drop them. Lets have a super easy quiz tomorrow and say you can't pass the class if you miss it." He then emailed the students who missed it informing them that they best make themselves scarce. (2) see professor gartner vignette above

In conclusion, I'm not going to stop others from fearfully adhering to prereq appeasement, but I myself still believe in boldly defying this barberous oppression.

Yeah, I don't think that they can necessary drop people for missing the first day of class or something. He was doing that grade-wise, rather than administratively.
