Free icecream tomorrow. But while I'm at it, I haven't posted a poll in way too long. So:

Knowing that "Rob Roy" in this case refers not to an alcoholic beverage or a Scottish cattle rustler, but the city council candidate pictured (who is also an employee at the local Ben & Jerry's); knowing that Free Cone Day is a national Ben & Jerry's Homemade Holdings Inc ("Ben & Jerry's") annual tradition; and knowing that Rob Roy designed and propogated the flyers like the one you see above (consider colour version, which is plastered all over the internet, as well):

Yeah, the Bike Church is going to need to invest in some coloured paper, or hire Rob Roy to do publicity for them, if they want more than two people interested in their organization.

Looked intriguing but strange.

More collected: Your questions are loaded to imply that using Ben & Jerry's as a platform for your political campaign is a bad thing.

Yeah, I have to agree. Rob Roy is the manager of the Ben and Jerry's, so why can't he promote that he's giving away the ice cream?

If it just so happens to promote the fact he's running for City Council by like a whole lot, that's just the side effect of a well designed poster. It caught all of our attentions, right?

Oh, and there's no call to action in it either. Yeah, it's totally a campaign poster.

The only thing that bothers me is the phrase "Have a scoop, on Rob Roy," not really the fact the flyer focuses on him holding an ice cream cone. The free cone day is also a "platform" for KDVS to promote their fundraising but it doesn't say "Have a scoop, on KDVS." Probably because neither KDVS or Rob Roy are paying for the free ice cream and such. Just because there is a comma in the phrase doesn't mean it isn't exceptionally misleading.

Then again I suppose some people know that Ben & Jerry's always has free scoop day, and it has nothing to do with Rob Roy for Davis City Council. Maybe the creators of the flyer should have considered making the phrase "27th annual" in as big as font as "Rob Roy." Or simply left the "have a scoop" phrase out to avoid people coming and thanking Rob Roy for their free ice cream.

And WikiPhil's right, your poll is a touch loaded <3

At first I thought you'd have to eat it off of his body. While I'm all for eating sushi off naked women, he's crossed several lines. :(

The flyer certainly made me think that Rob Roy is paying for my ice cream (although I knew better). The "Have a scoop on Roy Roy" is intensely misleading to the uninformed Davisite; good intentions or not, the poster implies that Rob Roy is causing the free flow of goodness.
