I know what I want to bring back? CAPES.
No, not cheesy superhero capes, or silly felt ren-faire capes. Practical fashionable capes. I don't think its as silly as it sounds.
Often, particularly when I'm working at my computer, I'm cold but feel uncomfortably constricted putting on a jacket or even a sweatshirt while sitting at my computer. Wrapping a blanket around myself is usually nice, but then you've got to finagle a way to have it around you and still have your arms sticking out. I often end up draping my jacket around my shoulders, basically wearing it as if it were a cape.
I think a cape could be easily designed that is both practical and not ridiculous looking. I think someone should do this.

You could always buy a trenchcoat and use the sleeves to tie it around your neck. But if you insist on the cape, you should get one of these:
