I'm in Davis, California, now, about 400 miles north of LA. There was traffic in some places, but I made it. There's zombies here too though. There's zombies everywhere apparently!! Anyway, I met up with these guys [livejournal.com profile] witless_nerd, [livejournal.com profile] orwell_troll, and [livejournal.com profile] zombiegodfather, and we're hiding in the basement of one of the buildings on the UC Davis campus. Apparently it used to be a bunker. The doors are all pretty solid, and we got down here in a freight elevator - which should be non-zombie-navigable. There's even what we think is the local ROTC armoury down here, but its behind an extremely solid door that we haven't gotten open (there's a warning sign on it that says trespassers will be prosecuted under the Military Code of Justice).

Okay so I'm in Davis. And its fricken freezing here!! My roommate just informed me that the high today is supposed to be 49f or something, with a windchill of 10 degrees ... which means the HIGH is just above freezing. Maybe we've got our second day of snow in five years coming up? (And I'll be lollygagging in a t-shirt down in So Cal, suckas!!)

My room now being devoid of furniture however is like a big white box the light shines into, and is nicely toasty for a change. But even my crazy roommate considers it too cold outside now.

January 28th, 2002 -- The Day It Snowed in Davis

Yesterday (Tuesday), my brother Tobin ([livejournal.com profile] nibot)and his latest woman, Nadia (HLWN?), came to Davis to take possession of my cherished automobile. This being their first time really in Davis, they marvelled as well at our esteemed city here, making such statements as "my god, its so flat!" "it's so... collegiate," and "where are all the bums???" (I remind you, they're from Berkeley). I did my best to give them a thorough Davis experience, getting them lost in the Social Sci building and even convincing them to go visit my favorite creation, the Oxford Circle ("Little Big People") Park.

Aannd of course Tobin drove off into the sunset (after raiding my apartment for consumables) with The Zephyr, may it rest in piece. So... I now am without car )= ::abject self pity::

omg someone behind me (in the computer lab here) talking quietly to his friend jsut said "...this is hecka open..." disturbing. Anyway, I'm in the computer lab in the basement of Olson, but I still feel extremely caffiene deficient. blah. Week is half over, but this weekend is being taken over by MUN. Psha. I think I'll just... move to Colorado.
