So the ninth was my little brother Eric's ([livejournal.com profile] frickeec) birthday. He turned 20. Though he's still in Iraq, we had a party anyway. His girlfriend Stacy and best friend Monte (just back from deployment in Djibouti) came over and joined myself, my parents, and the two Frenchmen for dinner and birthday cake (Pineapple-upsidedown-cake). Eric joined us via the large photograph my grandparents had brought to Chelsea's wedding (about which I will eventually update I swear).

Eric can be seen here tasting the buffalo chicken.*

Also of note, Monte (AKA Lance Corporal Peters) had just gotten back from deployment in Djibouti. "Africa sucks" he reported. Being a former MUNer he also reported "in response to the old MUN joke, no, Greece did not help us insert into Djibouti."

In other news, Kristy will be visiting me down here from the 14th to the 18th. If you're in OC you should want to meet her.
Also in other news, one of my best friends from freshman year, Benjamin Stevenson is officially living with me this upcoming year. Hooray for actually living with someone I know already.
In even-more-other news someone else has my name. Alex and I were trying to find my account on thefacebook.com from her computer, so we typed in my name, and one Kristen Fricke turned up. wtf?

Having a four day weekend, Kritsy and I decided to scamper on down to Orange Country and have some misadventures down there.
While down there I was able to use the family digital camera again, resulting in about a million pictures of Kristy.

A Million Pictures of Kristy!

So the other day, my little brother Eric and two of his friends decided to stop by diedrichs ("we're going to come laugh at your friends and tell them they need haircuts"). But upon arriving they discovered there were all these high school kids hanging out by the neighbouring Taco Bell who were even MORE deserving of their ridicule.
So what did this saucy trio of two marines and another large hooligan do? They drove by the kids and tossed a large beverage at them! With screeching tired they then sped off as a dozen of the guys (I'd estimate the group at a size of say three dozen) piled into a raised pick-up truck and drove over three curbs on its way out of the parking lot to catch up to them. A number of them ran that direction on foot as well though I can't fathom what they hoped to accomplish thereby (fist shaking no doubt).
Apparently after rally racing through that neighbourhood a bit, team marine corps found themselves heading down a cul de sac. Using the e-break they pulled a screaching 180-degree turn and passed their confused high school persuers and escaped. Team high school testosterone themselves had to do like an 8 point turn to get out.

Yeah I know, its kind of juvenile, but its also kind of AWESOME. Also, I got it on video (at least the start), on my excellent digital camera. If I could figure out how to host video on the internet I could share this stupendous event with y'all.

On that note, if I could figure out how to host video I could also share with you:

  • Security Guard Danny being awesome and hilarious while on the job

  • Definitive proof that it was the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt" that was being sung that infamous evening

  • Um, probably other stuff I'm forgetting

  • The events just mentioned

Or if I could at least find a way to isolate frames from the video, I could show the raised truck going over curbs, which was pretty cool.

Marination

About an hour ago marines showed up here to take away my little brother. That was about 3am.
So my little brother is now well on his way to bootcamp. My older brother [livejournal.com profile] nibot recently arrived in Geneva, Switzerland. And me, I am here. Don't get me wrong, I am so pleased to finally be returned here from Davis, but it had certainly been my aspiration to be somewhere for awesome like Easter Europe by this summer.

I spent most of the day at the graduation/marination (the act of becoming a marine) party of my little brother and his best friend Monte. I was slightly bored out of my mind since I didn't know anyone there and.. yea. I then briefly visted the Wilcox sisters who lived nearby, and that was the event of the evenings social activities.
The weather so far and apparently for some time has been "gloomy" and overcast here. I absolutely love it. No seriously omg I love this weather.

I discovered the coolest word today: Jiggery-Pokery - verbal misrepresentation intended to take advantage of you in some way.

One of the lines from the song I'm listening to (see current music) is "she turned the skies from blue to grey," and I love that image, but I think its because I love grey sky, so it has the opposite meaning for me. Yesterday Robin told me that Smile broke up. I'm very sad. Someone better start covering that song asap or something. )=
