When I have a bunch of very similar pictures I have the hardest time trying to figure out which is the best to use and which ones to discard. And then sometimes I'll just end up posting them all to flickr. So feel free to tell me which of these seven you think is subtly better.

In other news, after several reschedulings it my next project in Nigeria is currently on the books for April 1st-17th. On top of that it looks like we might add another project, in Egypt, by a different aid organization (ACDI/VOCA) immediately prior. So suddenly in three weeks I should be spending a month traipsing about Africa!

Walking on the beach the other day I found this. It would appear some hell beast of the deep has missplaced a diabolical clawed tentacle.

Some of my friends on facebook who foolishly disbelieve in nightmarish sea monsters tried to suggest it was the decomposing body of a sea snake but I'd like to point out (A) that is clearly a claw, and (B) the scales are going the wrong way for that to be the front end (it had been posited that that's a fang and the rest of the skull assemblage has disappeared)

This evening, as I once again walked barefoot along beach, ankle deep in the warm waters of the Coral Sea, with a glass of bulliet bourbon in my hand this time, I realized that the moon was so bright I could see my shadow from it plain as day. I don't recall ever noticing a shadow from the moon before ... maybe a vague blurry thing at best, but this was sharp and crisp like I was illuminated by a floodlight on the other side. I don't know why the moon would be any brighter here than anywhere else, but man it seems bright.

( From the same batch of pictures as yesterday )

08:15 this morning, in the tomato fields, the beginning of my day.

Went for a walk on the beach this evening, and took lots of pictures. The surf feels good on one's feet when it's warmer than the cool evening air.

THIS is downtown Moorepark. Yep. The big city, this is.

Today was kind of a downer. Still working with Greg, his mood was much better than yesterday, but he's still finding fault with everything I do, and you know, that's kind of draining to be around day in and day out.

And Trevor, the bossman, had placed a replacement taillight in the back of my truck for me to have the mechanic put on when he got a chance (the former one was smashed when I was rear ended on Saturday). Today I discovered it is no longer in the back of the ute.
Nothing else of that size (or any size) has bounced out of the back of the truck. ): He was surprisingly cool about me getting rear ended my first week on the job, but I feel like losing the replacement taillight has gotta be seen as a fuckup. ): So that's been weighing on me today as well.

On the bright side, in an hour it's thanksgiving! Not that the celebrate it here or eat turkey (even though they have so many "bush turkeys" they're considered a huge pest?).
