In other news, Epic Roadtrip 2007 has already commenced!! Tarisha & Sherri have already set forth from Davis. They'll presumably cross paths with my parents somewhere in the central valley, as they (my parents) are on their own epic ten day roadtrip to Idaho, where my dad is doing an Ironman Triathalon (typical). I'll join Tarbar and Sherri when they arrive down here this evening. Our most ambitious plans look somethiing like this. They are exceedingly ambitious for the 11 day time frame, however, so they may well change drastically.
I'm looking forward to rendezvousing with Nicole Farazian, finally visitinig my best friend Aaron Aviv in New Orleans, catching up with [livejournal.com profile] pavel_lishin in Atlanta, GA, [livejournal.com profile] kelleydoodle in Philadelphia. IF we make it as far as New York, Jenn de la Vega is there, and most of my dad's side of my family is in Rochester NY (I really hope we make it this far).
If you're reading this and live near the planned route, let me know!

I think our goal is Twentyninepalms, CA, tonight, Vegas tomorrow. Beyond that I don't know. We're bound to pass through Flagstaff, Az. [livejournal.com profile] hereticxxii (Justin Sowers) is from around there, but he's in Europe. )= I've had some good times with the Northern Arizona University crew at MUN conferences but I don't think I know any of them other than Justin well enough to warrant meeting up with.

But yeah, for our roadtrip we have a $600 grant from PBS subsidiary Roadtrip Nation, because we're rockstars like that.

Last night an EMOSNAIL Commando Team made up of Tarisha, her friend Sherri, Brent Laabs ([livejournal.com profile] orwell_troll), [livejournal.com profile] witless_nerd, my roommate Jason and I, and another guy, went exploring for steam tunnels on campus.
Turns out campus doesn't have human-navigable steam tunnels )= Just a lot of human-accessible steam pits. They are steamy and sauna-like inside, we decided it would be very funny to emerge from one while wearing a towel in the middle of winter.
We found some neat places. I'll post pictures as soon as I get the pictures off Sherri's camera.
We also found the armoury in the basement of Hoagland Hall. It consisted of a very heavy doorway in the basement that was not only locked, but the doorknob was chained and another huge lock attached to that. A sign on the door warned that trespassers would be prosecuted to the full extent of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The entire basement of Hoagland kind of looks like a bunker, actually, and according to Jason, who is full of arcane knowledge (citing a Professor Verosuv in Geology as his source), the basement of Hoagland actually WAS a bunker in WWII. Someone update Daviswiki. (=

After our explorations, Jason & I stopped in at G Street Pub, where we met up with Miss Olivia Pisano.

Today I went into Woodland anyway to put in for reimbursement for travelling up here. They'll mail me a check for $102, which is a lot more than I expected, and will cover most of my travel expenses. I also ate at the excellent Fat Cat Cafe in Woodland.
My friend Deputy DA Tim Wallace told me I should put him as a reference for job applications. Now I have an Ambassador (Amb. Holmes, former Ambassador to Australia & Director-General of the State Dept), a City Councilman (Heystek) and a Deputy DA as references. (=

Tomorrow morning I'm planning on starting the drive back to So Cal. I'm kind of thinking of taking a circuitous route of some kind so as to change it up.
