Both the last two nights, I got home from work, took shower, ate, took a "nap," woke up the next morning on my bed with my lights and radio on at 6:20am and had to hurry off to be late for work at 7:00. Consequently I haven't had time to even check my email in two days, much less make a livejournal entry. Today I got off around 5:00 (see below), and slept from 5:15pm to nearly 10pm.

I got to carry a Saki Monkey from a cage we were evacuating in the Santa Ana zoo to fight bees in on Monday. We removed two Saki Monkeys and a Brazilian Agouti in large pet carriers. The cage smelled like monkey ass. Literally.

Today Jeremy dropped me off at the shop early because his last two jobs were in Huntington Beach near where he lived and he didn't want to have to come back. He instructed me to mop the floor, clean the bathroom, and hang out till five. I was done with the former two tasks by 4:15, and from then till 5:00 there was nothing they could possibly have me do -- the shop was totally clean and its not like I can go fight bees without a truck. But I'm on salary so The Man feels like he owns me at least from 7-5 every day, frequently longer. God forbid I should get out with less than a ten hour day, I don't understand why one would keep me there for no reason other than because they can. I'm not benefitting him sitting there waiting for 45 minutes. Why does one have to unnecessarily make working feel like some sort of punishment?

   Two Years Ago Sunday:
False Sense of Urgency - Gas prices jump from $1.63 to $1.83. Hah. What are they now, $2.63?
Two Years Ago Today: I Saved Four People's Lives Today, What Did You Do? - and the other deep water guards, I don't play their reindeer games. I've been trying to get one of the many people I still know on the "inside" to get me half-priced discount tickets to visit the park this year. Its surprisingly difficult to track them down.
Year Ago Monday: All the ladies swoon for emo boy - RECENTLY DECLASSIFIED - I post another picture post from an evening at Diedrichs, and all the ladies go a swooning over this one boy. Frankly I don't see what the big deal with him is, but it led to...
Year Ago Yesterday: For the Ladies - Back by popular demand, more pictures of Mike Dionne, Daniel Harnack, and Daniel Hetchel. No offense to the aforementioned but you ladies have weird taste in boys. Also, in polling on who exactly the most attractive male photographed here was, boys voting for themselves wins by a landslide.

Poll of the Day - its been a year since we've asked this question:

So today I found myself in the middle of a rainforest, looking a tree sloth right in the eye from about a foot away, while a Brazilian Agouti scampered around and a toucan lurked about.

Today you see, I started work as a bee removal technician. There were bees in the rain forest exhibit at the Santa Ana Zoo, and monkeys are very allergic to bees apparently, so we had to get in there and take care of it. So I ended up actually climbing over vines inside the exhibit.
The evacuated most of the animals they could from the exhibit first. Seeing the tree sloth up in the tree, head bee herder David Marder asked if they should try to remove it, to which the zookeeper responded "do bees sting inanimate objects? because thats all it does right there"
It actually climbed down while we were working though. I thought it was funny that the zookeeper was fixated on David working on the bees, and I was fixated on the sloth. We're standing there facing opposite directions, to each of us what the other is watching is totally mundane and what we're watching is unusual and interesting.

Otherwise, it was an interesting day. Full of new adventures for me and full of angst for David (who owns the company). One person had called in to quit this morning. Apparently our shady competition had been spreading saucy rumours about us so David bounced some calls back and forth with his lawyer... turns out the shady competition doesn't have a real address and is operating under two names or something crazy. Of our four bee removal trucks that were supposed to be out and about, one's driver had a dental appointment (because someone had thrown a brick at him awhile ago?!) which delayed him for an hour or so, and another truck was run off the road by a big rig.

We roamed all around North Eastern Orange County today. Like the city of Orange and Yorba Linda and crap.
We start at $10, but then go "up" to a salary of $2000 / mo, but considering the long hours we work (David works 14 hour days!) I suspect that is well below $10/hr. \=

   Two Years Ago Today:
A Day in the Life of Kris - by this point that summer I'd been to at least three beach bonfires and one awesome party, and many other miscellaneous adventures. At this point this summer I've seen a sloth.
But yea, so a year ago today (featuring Matt Morgan (of yesterday's interesting hair), Shalane Christie, Croat, Jessie Lawson, Alberto Hernandez, and many more!), risky endeavors, fear and loathing at the beach, unlikely coincidences, predictable behaviors, being emo, being interrogated by the police, and depositing things for others to pick up later, just a typical day.

Year Ago Today: Mission: San Juan Capistrano - And source of the best Mexican food ever, Pedros.

So Kristy of course was down here this weekend and it was awesome. I have more pictures than I know what to do with. So first I think I'm going to post the pictures from the zoo saturday morning because I know half of you would rather look at pictures of cute animals than anything esle I could possibly dish out here.

So Saturday night Adrian, Kristy and I stayed at our place (Mine and Adrian's, "the Casbah") and drank and watched the movie Bottle Rocket. Then Azver and his sister Fem-Azver stopped by briefly.

Sunday Miss Heidenberger and I went to the Sactomento Zoo. It was smallest Zoo I've ever been to, and much to my heartbreak it didn't have anteaters!!! We did, however, definitely see emu's getting their hump on.

Adrian and I have determined that the Simpsons this season are particularly good. We also determined the cookies which we discovered deep in our pantry are still very good, despite the fact that we have absolutely no idea how old they are. I love discovering things in my pantry.
In other TV-related news, there are currently two commercials which I absolutely abhor. One is the "McDonalds" commercial which spends more time advertising how good the basketball player that endorses there new burger is than the burger itself. I don't remember the guys name but it ends with "blah blah, as soon on TV." The other one is the trailer of the "SAT" movie. The movie.. I dunno, just makes me angry... its just.. so stupid!! making a big thing about something thats not. Maybe its the political implications as well: there are certain elements that loathe the SAT and think it should play a lesser part in college admittions; I for one got into college on the strength of my SATs, and think that its a more accurate indicator of successful use of college education than HS GPA; the movie implies that the SAT is an evil random impediment to people's dreams.
Another trailer doesn't bother me AS much, because it looks ridiculously laughably bad, is "You Got Served" or something like that. It looks like some ridiculous attempt at redoing "bring it on" but with guys breakdancing. "Bring it On" was already a terrible attempt at the all too common sports-movie formula, and IT made me feel physically ill.
