I love how the title the California Aggie assigned to my letter to the editor contradicts the actual purpose of the letter. They titled it "Watson misguided by communist shirt," whereas the whole point of the letter was that it was an Aeroflot Airlines shirt and NOT a "communist shirt" as Watson had misconcieved it. I had even recommended the title of "Watson Whitewashes Racism," in my opinion a much better title that combines alliteration and Watson's own phrase to concisely summarize the fundamental error in comparing Aeroflot Airlines and Heinrich Himmler -- a grievious violation of Godwin's Law I might add.

the official Aeroflot logo -- recent proposals to change it have been shot down by customer surveys which indicate the logo to remain very popular with Aeroflot customers. -- maybe it looked more intimidating to Watson in red and yellow as it is on my shirt?

You're an intellectual guy. I am stressing over debate issues so maybe you have an opinion.

A) Considering the recent Sudanese Peace Agreement, should the United States send financial aid to Sudan?

B) Should the US try and reopen Israeli-Palestinian Peace talks?

debatable things

A) in general, yes, but one would want to be very careful in seeing that it goes to the right people for the right purposes -- I'm not sure the Government of Sudan is even operating in the effected Darfur regions anymore to a degree that would allow them to put the aid to use even if they wanted to; it would probably be best to have the aid administered to the region through UN or AU aid organizations.

But yes, aid would probably ease desperation (desperation is of course widely believed to lead to violence) and directly save lives. Rebels with destroyed villages have nothing to lose, build some basic infrastructure and they'll have a vested interest in more peaceful resolutions. Also on both sides hostility was fostered by competition for scarce resources, infrastructure development can ease that significantly as well.

B) yeah, sure. there's no penalty for talking. (= Seriously though with new Palestinian leadership I think it is probably important to try to make negotiation gains now before the new leadership becomes set in its ways or drifts in a less cooperative direction.

Is this user icon supposed to bolster your "Im not a communist" claim?

Especially for the small-brained people, pictures speak louder than words.
