After my one class today 10-11 and some meetings, I hung out with Roxie and watched this band she'd brought, The Groovie Ghoulies. They were a psychobilly band, which is the awesome, but I was really impressed by their ability to randomly do songs in completely other genres and do them well.
After that I spent about an hour as an itinerate MU urchin. I wanted to get ahold of Kristy to see if she wanted to lunch with me but without my phone I was powerless. Nor could I call any other friend for that matter. I've never felt so alone in the middle of campus. Eventually Gena took pity on me and accompanied me to Pita Pit whereupon I devoured a gyro.
Much later I was fleeing an ASUCD Supreme Court meeting when I noticed some commotion in the Coffee House. Turns out it was an electronica show organized by Amie Gutierrez. "Electric Badness" was playing when I got there and I thought they were pretty cool so I hung out for awhile there with Roxie. Then another band came on that I wasn't feeling so much so I went on my way.
Apparently my cell phone turned up, they want me to call some number (I think its the MU Information Desk). Hopefully I'll be able to track it down tomorrow.

Polling Objectivity
Mar. 19th, 2005 09:12 pm So one fine day on Daviswiki, contention erupted over the shadiness factor of Campus Crusade for Christ. To help solve this controversy, Emosnail staff benevolently volunteered to do some polling on the subject, but in response noted local Republican George Andrews stated "having Fricke do a poll on Campus Crusade in EMOSNAIL is like having me do a poll on Nathan Thomas/Black Caesar/Dan Beeman Approval ratings among DCR members."
We then posted polls both here and on the UC Davis community (ucdaivs). Ostensibly this was to ascertain the shadiness factor of CCC, but really we're just using jedi mind tricks to make you think thats our motive -- the true motive was to show that CCC would get a higher shadiness rating from the UC Davis lj community than from the readers of this livejournal (the postings were exactly identical).
At this point, more than 18 hours after the polls began, and with 60 responses: the ucdavis community has rated Campus Crusade for Christ at a shadiness factor of 7.14, while the
emosnail readership has rated it at 6.33. Clearly Emosnail does not foster antireligious mentalities.
Resistentialism
The other day my browser (mozilla) inexplicably crashed and when it came back up, all my bookmarks had been lost. I find this very aggravating because I had quite a few things that I regularly used bookmarked. I miss the most-recent-pictures-updated-to-livejournal webpage that I haven't been able to find again. )=
Last night apartment-mate wdsguy came home from LA, where he spends the week steeped in the adult entertainment industry (you think I'm kidding), and promptly unplugged my internet and went to bed -- presumably without actually realizing I needed it (we don't have a router because I live in a cave so only one of us can be connected at a time). So I spent the rest of the night in the computer lounge working on my paper. When I returned in the morning I was plugged in again but our internet was down, appeared to be a problem with our service-provider. When it finally came up trillian (my AIM client) crashed and burned horribly. When I was finally able to get it up again all my friends groups had been eliminated, so I now have 435 people all in one big group. I promptly created the missing groups and garnered a small amount of satisfaction sending some people to the gulag (my friends-list category of that name anyway). I believe resistentialism is taking root in my computer. Either that or its developing bovine spongeform encephalitis ("mad cow disease").
The Order of Trogdor
EMOSNAIL is proud to present Daviswiki creator Philip Neustrom with our highest honour, the Order of Trogdor:

Neustrom is seen here receiving the prestigious medal in the traditional ceremony. (with the medal on)
Neustrom has exemplified the most admirable interests in promoting community understanding, combined with illustrious competence in creating the Daviswiki and making the wonder that it is today.
Truly, if there is anyone who deserves to be on Davis Mount Rushmore, it is Phil (incidently I've never heard of four of the five people listed there).*
Weekly ASUCD Shadiness Rating
We're overdue for the weekly ASUCD shadiness rating. Since last polling, ASUCD went ahead and passed unanimously the legislation preventing members of the ASUCD judiciary from authoring legislation, and Kalen Gallagher was replaced as President by Caliph Assagai and Darnell Holloway (but not before Gallagher characterized choice voting as a disease he would squash). Here's an Aggie article on the recent adventures of ASUCD.

Entertainment Council retreat 2005
Jan. 18th, 2005 01:52 am( First Annual Entertainment Council Retreat )

So yesterday I'm standing outside the Ralph Nader speaking event talking to noted republican George Andrews when on the subject of politics someone I don't know says to me "you're an anarchist aren't you?" Then aggie reporter Stan Obklobzija asked me if I knew where rabid communist John Green1 was and if I had anything to do with the Nader event.
1If you could cross communism with rabies, John Green would have it.
Former ASUCD President Sara Henry accused me of being a member of the green party in a newspaper interview, the ASUCD Ethnic & Cultural Affairs Commission once discussed whether or not I'm a republican. I dunno somehow it just seems to me to be very unclassy to clearly belong to a particular political stereotype. Anyway, time for a poll:

Entertainment Council
Also we had an entertainment council meeting yesterday. I was actually given another title to add to my collection - I was declared to have the glorious title of "head grip."
Also while brainstorming bands we want to bring to campus I plugged Momsex. The rest of you should help bring the ingenius creators of Zombies v Pirates to our campus by telling blushbystander how awesome they are over and over again.

Paid Account!!
May. 17th, 2004 12:31 am Eternal thanks to Kim (obisan69) for she has gotten me a paid account for my birthday. Prepare yourselves now for multidious polls and icons. (= Thanks Kim!!
Tomorrow morning I'm going to have to leave at 5:15am to walk to campus (since it takes 40 minutes) to get there at 6am to go chalking, even though I haven't been able to confirm we still are fordays. If Amie Gutierrez would just respond to IMs my life would be a little less stressful but I think she loathes me.
Anyway today I played in two intramural soccer games on the ASUCD team. It was pretty fun. We lost the first one and won the second. It was good times.
Kristy's been feeding me well lately. I morethanjock her.
Thursday
Stopped by The Table in the MU, where five people were at the time sitting. The two I didn't know turned out to be blueliquid13 and
sivart13, two of the others were
blushbystander and
pavelthegeek, the remaining person was my friend Yadira. Though I'd never had the slightest incling that she may have an lj, seeing her present company I asked, and indeed she is
porcelain999.
Then I went to the barbershop in the basement to get the sides of my head shaved.
Friday
It was my Uncle Ben's birthday so we had dinner at their place on J Street. And by "we" I mean Kristy and I. Kristy was terrified at first, but she survived. The food was sooooooo goooood omg. It was like.. the second best food I've had all week. It was like.. this thai food. With tofu.. yes I even liked the tofu it was that good.
Pictures were taken of the Kristy and I. I haven't seen them as of yet but they should be available very soon.
Saturday - Valentine's Day
So Kristy and I went to the Farmer's Market in the morning. This of course prompted me to retell my favorite Lame Story, about waking up in a frat house and going outside to find a farmers market raging outside. While there we ran into Kristy's italian teacher, and city council candidate Lamar Heystek. We also bought a half gallon of delicious apple cider before moving on to Baker's Square for breakfast.
That evening we had a candle-lit dinner at Kristy's place. The dinner was a surprise for me, and it turned out to be "fire-cracker pork fusilli" Kristy had gotten from Fuzios. This is my all-time most ultimate food ever omg just thinking about it mmmmm... Kwisty also made garlic-bruschetta appetizers and tiramisu. It was all so so so so good omg. Sensory overload.
Unfortunately last time Kristy had wine, slosha got her trashed on tiquela, and Kristy subsequently developed an aversion to wine. After unsuccessfully trying to enjoy the wine at dinner she made light of this. I offered to make her a drink with vodka or peppermint snapps or something. She thought for a minute and asked for steel reserve. I was soo proud. (=
And then Courtbutt came pounding on the door and a ringing the door-bell. No romantic valentines day dinner is complete without that.

Yes, that is the first conversation Kristy and I ever had. Apparently I had recently forgotten I didn't know her and waved to her in the MU.
Kristy's entry on the same
My entry from a year ago
It just occured to me that in keeping with v-day tradition, I did in fact wear all-black THIS time as well. Black dickies, black docs, black braces (suspenders), black collared shirt, black tie...
No picture today, I'm in a hurry.
Three Months
So today (the eighth) was our three month anniversery. It being a Sunday night, Kristy and I went out for dinner last night instead (Saturday), to Thai2k.
We set out on a quest for food tonight as well however, craving specifically Subway. We arrived at the Subway at the U-Mall just as they were locking the door however.
After much deliberation (it being 10pm, most places were closed) we decided just to stop by Wendys. Despite the establishment's claim to be "open late" every light, this apparently was the one night they decided to close at 10pm for remodelling. Weak Sauce. We ended up getting food at Jack n the Box.
Then we went to Starbucks, because we were craving the CAC (Caramel Apple Cider). We arrived there right at 10:30, right as THEY were closing. Forunately we managed to get some free coffee off them though. I still crave the CAC though and plan on going on an expedition tomorrow evening.
Saturday Parties
Saturday my next-door neighbors had a party. Now see, the apartment next door to me is one of I believe four ten-bedroom (10!) apartments in Davis. Among the people living there this year is Yael, who lived below me freshman year, and Beta ("Bee-ta"), a girl I had actually become friends with after meeting in 11th grade at an MUN conference.
After a somewhat short appearance there Kristy and I proceeded to her complex, Sterling, where Amie Gutierrez was having a raging party. And indeed it was raging. I have heard nothing but raving reviews of it. Everyone was rocking out. Pavel and Codetoad were quite abundant.
It eventually got broken up, and as I was going past the cop I heard him say "...this guys hair." I missed the first part but by the way he was saying it I don't think it was all bad.
Steel Reserve
No less than three people this weekend have informed me that they drank steel reserve recently because I am always raving about it. This makes me quite proud. One of the people (codetoad) described it as "the shitiest beer I've ever tasted," but all three reported having become quite wasted by it, and even Codetoad seemed to have had considered it a pleasant experience. He was pretty drunk when I talked to him though. (=
Sunday, MUN
Today we had a mock conference. Unlike the last one, which was suprisingly serious, this one was completely silly. I was in Security Council. I hear World Health Organization actually stayed more serious.
It started out with the women in committee dominating debate by discussion a eugenics program whereupon such British male specimins as Jude Law, Ewan McSomething, and someotherfamouspeople would be bred foraciously. Eventually we managed to get off this topic, and in an effort to feel more serious, discussed drug trafficking. "Illegal trafficking of drugs is a problem which has plagued humanity ever since mankind learned how to traffick things, and developed the technological innovation of making things 'illegal'" -me. Then somehow we erupted into WWIII.
Initially I was representing Rome(eania). At the start of WWIII however, I also began representing the Sovreign Republic of California. We seceded from the US and pledged our support to North Korea (who had started the war). The US retaliated by sending all the mormons into California.
There was some debate over whether double-commenting to speeches was allowed. The main partisan of double-comment prohibition, Catherine Myung argued that it must be forbidden because it never happens. I argued that there clearly is no rule against it, and "because something never happens by no means means that it is not possible..." I found the whole debate to be remarkably suited to my essay of last entry on the subject of policy.
Unrelated - Security
Apparently my little brother's Marine Corps squad was called on to provide security at Linkin Park concerts. The second concert was cancelled, so security was actually increased.

A Year Ago Saturday: WWIII
A Year Ago Sunday: Random Adventures and The Scarf Party
The parallels between events a year ago and currently are suprising. In the three days above, I mention one of the girls who at the time lived next-door, WWIII, a night of random adventures (a quest for food actually, as was the random adventure this evening), and a party in which many of the people present at Amie's most recent party were also present (though not named here, some are listed in Terra's entry).
First Day of Class
Jan. 7th, 2004 11:40 pm Bleh. First day of classes equals me in a bad mood.
Last night, Tuesday night, I finally got the sides of my head reshaved, by my friend Azver. Then went to the eighies party the kids in the Colleges (Courtney, Bree, Christie, Sarina & Adam) were throwing. Well actually then I hurried off to the ASUCD Court meeting, and ended up just walking to the 80s party from there, since Kristy was already there.. so I ended up being the only non-80s person there. Hella people ended up showing up.
Azver came, and I met stillsheryl AGAIN and she remembers this time, and
pavelthegeek was also quite abundant.
Today I had class from 11:00-12:00 and 14:00-15:00, so during the two hour interim I planned to hang out in the MU breezeway. This plan worked out extremely successfully, since as usual there was an entire table of people I knew already there. And of course it happened that everyone there had livejournals (pavelthegeek,
codetoad,
dinacloud,
jegskaltisse), and this girl Sally who's lj name I forget.
Then the indie kids set up a rival table ten feet away, where blushbystander, her boyfriend Jordan Smart and a number of their friends sat. We shook our fists at them.
There were a number of other details I was planning on throwing in, but I'm tired and irritable now so not so much. The end.
Financial Aid
My total financial aid for this quarter is $3,522. "But you're gonna have to pay all that back someday dumbass" you say? Yea well $2,022 of it is in grants, meaning I don't have to pay it back ever. In conclusion, it is excellent to be me.
Addendum
I just changed my listed website here. It formerly pointed to yahoo photos which is getting increasingly and increasingly shoddy, so the new location the link points to is this
Quote of the Day
Amy Z (jegskaltisse) - "I'm the unofficial co-host of my sister's radio show.. so I'm not allowed to touch anything. But then again we ARE identical twins, they'd never know."
Alright About That Party
May. 20th, 2003 01:29 amThe three kegs we had were Brother's Ale, MGD, and Nattie ice ("for the chumps!"). I think we were all very very pleasantly pleased with the quality of Brother's Ale. To further lead the chumps astray we labelled the nattie ice as "heineken" via sharpie and duct tape. I also put out my bottle of vodka and a bottle of grape soda, so people who weren't fans of beer could try my new grape-vodka creation, but Amie Gutierrez totally obsconded with the vodka IMMEDIATELY. Thats okay though she put it to good use (= but yea we similarly labelled the grape soda "chick shit" or something. Hooray for sharpies.
And when I was buying the grape soda at the grocery store (Ray's Food Place), the cashier, some lady in her 40s, took one look at me and said "no you're not." Why? Well because I was wearing my usual shiznaz, and my new black dickies, spiked collar, and the shirt I had just made that says "PREPPY" really big across the front. And Kristy wore my infamous "POSER" shirt, so we totally matched, it was for awesome.
Otherwise... lets see.. I drank almost nothing but guinness.. it was for awesome. I of course knew hellllla people there and couldn even begin to name names..
While as several people have noted actually there was a vast number of lj users there (Jackson's List), it occured to me that there were also hella cal aggie (our school paper) employees there. This latter group included: Stan Obklobzija (photographer), Aaron something (arts editor), Jackson Pritt, Tom Deckert (cartoonists), Zackery Amendt ([semi]controversial columnist) and um.. I dunno I bet there were more. And apparently an (ex)drummer from the band Rooney was at my party. That hella weirds me out because I think Rooney is basically for awesome, and that one of them should appear not just at the same party as I, but at MY party, is craziness.
Apparently a tipsy taxi driver declared my party to be the biggest one that night. Hellyes.
I remain bitter that Elisa continues to refuse to recognize that it was my party at all - she attributes sole credit to my co-conspirator Bill the Redhead. I am not amused, but maybe I'm just being shizoid again. Oh this guy Alex from my com6 class donated $20 for alcohol during the party.. he may have been hellof drunk and in the morning had no idea what happened to his twenty, but nevertheless I heavily encourage such behavior and definitely give a shout out to him.
(QUOTES)
What else.... according to Kristy I think, Tom (Grossman) "has sex in his eyes."
Don showed up in an AFI shirt, to which I immediately proclaimed "poser!" and he hellof defensively was like "its a joke!" haha thats as much respect as AFI gets around here. (note: AFI ain't my thing but I don't have any qualms at all with them personally, but their fanbase includes hellof incorrigable posers let me tell you.)
In summary the party went perfectly and I am endlessly pleased. Hope to see y'all at Cameron's (

Hmm, "Jackson's List," a movie about one cartoonist's struggle to amuse a vast apathetic campus, coming soon to theatres near you. -starring David Duchovny as Jackson Pritt, Vin Diesal as cartoonist Tom Deckert... Patric Stewart as Chancellor Vanderhoef...
