CHEESE DANISHES, and more!
Yesterday (Tuesday) I had ate with Gabi ([livejournal.com profile] samedisorder) at Posh Bagels, where I discovered a new source of excellent cheese danishes. Cheese danishes are divine.

Slightly previous to this I walked into the Coffee House where unbeknownst to me there was an ASUCD senate-candidates forum currently ongoing. Incidentally, I arrived in the audience just as one of the candidates was saying that they would increase the power of the Student Court. (= I of course do not necessarily endorse this candidate or any others, as that would be in violation of my position. I merely mention it as it does relate to my position. If I so much as applauded one of the candidates (or even all of them), I'd probably end up in a removal hearing by this Thursday.
The Elections Committe, however, is not in my jurisdiction, so I cannot be condemned for pointing out that it is NOT in keeping with constitutional norms for the Elections Committee Chairperson to casually advise candidates of legislation she wants written in official emails, nor to express personal opinions of the candidates. Know that for doing as much _I_ would certainly be drawn and quartered by now. Just ruminate on that a bit.. for now.

Ran into Lamar Heystek at Safeway again (he works there see), he randomly thanked me for mentioning him in this livejournal. I've never mentioned my livejournal to him... (=
   ...Vote Heystek!

I JUST ATE A CHEESE DANISH
Actually I just wanted to show off my new-found ability to make scrolling marquees (but I DID in fact just eat a cheese danish). Hellyes. I'm still dying to know how y'all align things on the right side of the screen.

Anyway. On Friday I took the 14:15 intercampus shuttle down to Berkeley, which arrived there at about 15:30. I was intended to make contact with my elder brother Tobin, and spend the night at his location. Arriving on the ground in Berkeley I located his place of residence immediately, but opted to wander about a bit before attempting to make contact. So I went down to Top Dogger and ate a delicious hotdog, wandered around a bit on Telegraph, and spent most of the afternoon sitting in the warm sun on the steps in front of Sproul Hall, studying.
Presently I made a few attempts to reach Tobin via telephonemachine, but they were all unsuccessful. I was however able to reach comrade Michelle (Phelps?) on the phone, a girl I dated in 11th grade but since that time have seen but once (for about 30 seconds), and she invited me to a party that evening, so at least I had something to do.
It became rather nippy out there if I do say so myself, and still unable to reach Tobin or any other locals I could only wander around homelessly.. hang out in shops merely to stay warm. Went to the familiar Durant Hotel to use its restroom... had another hot dog from Top Dogger, and eventually it was 21:00 and I headed down to the party, which was off hearst somewhere a block or two west of shattuck.
It was a great relief to be definitively out of the cold, and the people at the party were pretty cool.. it was a nice little shindig of a party. Two people there recognized me from earlier in the day (I was wearing my "UC DAVIS" shirt that everyone always asks if I made myself).
I ended up spending the night on the couch there. Got up at 07:30 and walked up to the Greek Theatre for Tobin's 08:30 gradumatation. There I met up with the rest of my family; the parents and younger brother Eric, an incorrigable troll. Tobin was graduating in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science (EECS).
Afterwords we met up with Tobin, his latest woman Nadia, and his eternal roommate Chris Perkins. Now Perkins was only Tobin's roommate for I think two of the five years Tobin had been there, but he will ALWAYS be "the roommate," because.. well.. thats what he is. They're like best friends or something.. ::shurg::
From there we proceeded to my grandmother's-sister's house (great aunt??) where numerous other relatives descended upon us; most of whom came out of Davis actually. There was of course my two aunts/uncles and subsequent little cousins that I'm accustomed to, but then there were some more distant ones that I wasn't familiar with (as Chris Perkins said, "how come they don't know who you are any better than they know who I am?"). Also around this time I think Tobin's latest woman, Nadia, said "you're family is like a sitcom family, there's The Jock, The Punk, and The Nerd." Obviously meaning Tobin was The Nerd... awww "nerrrrdlove!" (as Diane would say). (=
AAaaand... then I got home -- The End.

Oh and mother supplied me with like mass cheese danishes and a pood* of salami!

Kristy's photos from my party in that recent entry are now on a faster better server thanks to [livejournal.com profile] codetoad, so if they weren't loading before, they are now.

While we're still on the subject:
WHY WE LOVE CHEESE DANISHES - by Krisis and Fishis
from The Chosen Echidna, March 6th, 2002

Why are we so fixated on them; is it because they are so extremly
delicious that we cannot withhold ourselfs from buying one after
another? Or is it something about the peculiar word, the idea of
eating someone Danish -- or is it simply that because we both have an
equal love for them that it makes them that much better??? And
anyway, the idea of putting CHEESE on something delicious.. ..its
preposterous! And the fact that just the name itself makes me think
for some reason that I'm going to be sick after eating one, but
curiously I do no such thing; it doesn't really taste like cheese but
some delightful little surprise that is truely sinful.
And that they are only found in pleasant places like cafes, they
seem to hang out in them much like we ourselves do; and aren't
totally appalled at the unique music that is played in the store.
Besides, they taste good with coffee. They are great any time of the
day, especially when you have a craving.
In conclusion, cheese danishes are wonderful. And so are most of
the people who eat them such as Krisis and Myself. So if you
consider yourself wonderful, ask yourself this: "Have _I_ had a
cheese danish lately?"

Hoist the Pastry Jack!

That is the current flag for my state at nationstates.net. Yes, the "DANISH" label is officially part of the flag. What does everyone think?

Minus the white splotch and the label, that is the national flag of Kyrgyzstan. Those crazy Kyrgs.

I just typed out a post in the nationstates forum, but when I hit "post" I got "page cannot be displayed" and the whole post was lost. )= Same exact thing happened to me trying to post on ocska.com yesterday. Stupid messege boards.
I was really pleased with my attempted post in nationstates too; I made references to "Saber-Toothed Snails, Tusked Snails, Giant Ux-J'davian Incendiary Snails and all Snails of Unusual Size (SUS)" and threatened to embargo any state that was irresponsible towards these endangered animals to prevent "the import of all cheese danishes, and the components and production materials thereof."
   Maybe I'll try again later.

It looks like Don and Ray are intent on waffling on housing until the last possible minute, they are now "thinking about getting a house" which sounds fun, but it sounds like a pipe dream to me. So I'm officially looking for two persons to occupy the double room again.

Ah, another exciting day in Orange County, where the cops are on a first name basis with the criminals, and know who they're dating. But we'll get to my pulloverage adventure in due time..

First of all, went to a thai restaurant with the family. It was very good, I love thai food.
My evening of adventuring began around 21:45, when I realized I had 15 minutes till Diedrichs closed and hurried on down there, telling Robin to meet me there since he was all about lets hang out at the time. Arriving there I discovered Alyssa had saved two CHEESE danishes for me, in a bag that said "for Kris" no less. She's so wonderful. Robin and Marcus arrived shortly, and we spent at least half an hour talking about how there was nothing to do.
Diedrichs of course closed at 22:00 yet still there were no less than four completely separate groups of individuals hanging out in the general area of diedrichs for almost an hour thereafter. That is how exciting things are around here. Then Robin's friend Travis arrived, with two other individuals, and suddenly four fifths of the band Jack Bighead was present. But then they all went off to get high or something; and being all not about the getting high I remained at diedrichs with Alyssa, the other employee (Jobee?), and Jobee's Ex.
Drama began to develope, as Jobee's passive aggressive behavior became too manifest to ignore, so while her ex was talking to her Alyssa and I went on down to the crazy mobil/pizza-hut/haagen-das uber-gas-station down the street, which I'd never been in before. It has the most RANDOM crazy stuff. I got a Bounty bar, which I haven't seen anywhere other than Ireland, and was very pleased.
We returned in time to catch the end of a heating exchange between Jobee and her ex; he then proceeded to storm off apparently intending to walk home, which I'm told is about eight miles. Hey I walked seven miles home down here once.
A tearful Jobee soon departed in her own car to go waylay the ex (I ought to know his name, having just spent the evening with him, but thats me: terrible with names). While Alyssa and I speculated cynically on this her psychobitch of a apartmentmate called her to make some bogus threat alogn the lines of "if you wake me up again..." (by entering the apartment and going to bed). Not wanting to deal with her crap, Alyssa hung up, and soon was the recipient of a pleasant messege in which her apartmentmate derided her character in numerous ways completely unrelated to any real complaint she may have against her.

After ruminating on this for some time we decided it was time to go look for Jobee and other guy. We eventually found them in a nearby gas station, wary of a police cruiser which was lurking shark-like in the vicinity. After Alyssa and other guy vented a bit about their respective drama, Jobee departed (she'd been in her car at the far corner of the station during this discussion), and we decided to proceed back to the diedrichs.
Scarcely had we gone 500 yards (of the 700 or so total in our journey) than the police car was abundant again. It proceeded to totally pull us over.
This is the first time I've ever been in a pulled over car I think. I wasn't driving at this point, we were in the Alyssamobile. Anyway, the police officer, soon after reaching our window was like "oh sorry, your not who I'm looking for. Yea she looks kinda like you. She's a major tweaker and her boyfriend's pushing meth. I've been looking for her for hours now" or something.

Have been completely unable to get ahold of Nick. Well, neither one, but the one I was SUPPOSED to go to Ska Summit with at the end of the week. Soo... looks like THATS not happening. I should do a serious study of Nick: What Makes Him Flake. I think it would teach me valuable things about people in general and how to prevent others from flaking, or at least better anticipate and prepare for it. Don't get me wrong though, Nick is awesome; I was just kinda eagerly anticipating ska summit d=

Went with Liz and Jesska to see Robin Kivlin's band ("Jack Bighead") playing at the irvine spectrum. We all ended up getting in free randomly, which saved us a collective $30 (They were playing in Crazy Horse of all places. A location that usually caters to the local redneck hick population with copious amounts of country music and line dancing or something. All I know is there's always washed up 30 yr old guys in tight jeans and cowboy hats with washed up 30 yr old women who look like they're 40 and are trying to dress like 20 yr old cow girls, much to the disgust of the rest of us).
Went to the La Paz Diedrichs, where Alyssa was working at the time. Not only did she give me free coffee, but she gave me a free danish without me asking, implying, hinting, or anything. Now if you don't know already that I absolutely loooove danishes, well.. now you know. Especially CHEESE danishes. ::drool::

After that however, I came home and just kidna kicked around and got nothing worthwhile done for several hours. At around 5:30 (AM) mother came in and mildly harrassed me about my sleeping habits. Then she made me breakfast though and it was fairly delicious (a croissant and bread with stew/gravy on it), so it all worked out well.

But now I think I WILL get myself some sleep.
