So yeah, I left Davis around 6pm yesterday (Sunday), my and my two little girls, and I come rolling in here about 26 hours later with the addition of some pond water, some polywogs, a whole bunch of frogs, and a woman old enough to be my mother!!

Okay so it was my mother. And by two little girls I mean the rats Leia and Delilah. When I left I was worried they'd be too hot so I put a bunch of icecubes in their cage with them. By the time I stopped at Merced for In-N-Out I was worried they'd be too cold, but upon examination they had piled all the icecubes into one pile in the corner of their cage, crafty girls!

I took the 99 instead of the Five, because there are more towns along it and I figured there was a pretty good chance my car would explode. About two hours out I realized the first thing I'd forgotten: the two bottles of wine made by Coleman that I was going to give to my parents. Later I'd realize I forgot my flipflops as well (rainbows!) )=
Anyway I think it was about 1am when I finally reached the gate into Tweedy, but then I had to deal with a riddle of sorts. The key to the gate was "locked with a combination lock to a chain around a post -- it'll be obvious," so in the moonlight I searched the base of every pole until finally I found out with a lock and chain. Fifteen minutes of fiddling with the combination lock later I finally got that open and managed to get through the gate. Finally the last part of the quest was before me, the part I'd been dreading the entire way: the final ascension up to the cabin.
On the first attempt the car began sliding backwards and stalled. Several attempts to restart it ended in stalling and sliding further backwards. As there was a deep rut behind me (the road curved at that point on the steep hill), if this could continue the car could end up in very precarious straights indeed. Finally I tried one last time, giving the engine a mighty wallop of gas, and successfully charged up the hill.
Later I was told it was probably a good thing I didn't try to walk in from the gate, as there are mountain lions about.

The next day we (maternal grandparents, mother, myself) bollocksed about for awhile. Myself and mother went down to the lake, where there were millions of little frogs. Then we saw a 3 and a half foot gopher snake, which mother proceeded to pick up by the tail like that Australian guy (Crickey!). We waited around to avoid coming back through LA during rush hour traffic, and then returned. As mentioned, mother had decided to bring back some polywogs and frogs.

This evening I stopped by Diedrichs Coffee and found Villem, and friends from HS, Russel Renzas and Kerry Wilcox.

Also the demolition of the wooden structure at Little Big People Park in Davis began today. Inexorably society continues to move from interesting and unique things to prefabricated plastic. )=

Halfway done and I have five days to catch up with everyone else on the 30 entries in 30 days marathon. Haven't given up yet!

As you may or may not know, about a year ago I got jumped by three guys just out to start a fight. One got a lucky shot at my temple that knocked me out, kicked me in the head while I was unconscious and ran away. The UCDPD officer assigned to the case declared it "just a fight" and refused to look into it. Within a month he was fired for general incompetence
He claimed he was descriminated against, being a gay asian police officer, and after a huge publicity campaign catering to the campus which was all too eager to take up such a politically correct cause he was reinstated.

Someone Kristy knows from high school, named Brendon Rose, recently got in a fight defending his twin brother, in which he knocked someone unconscious and kicked them in the head. They were in a coma for thirteen days. Brendon was sentenced to 8 years in prison, five of which were specifically for putting his opponent in a coma.

By that reasoning then my assailants should get three years shouldn't they? The fact that I didn't go into a coma is incidental considering that what they did was the exact same thing Rose did, Rose just got unlucky.

Personally I think three years is even a bit high, but my point is, something someone else got eight years for probably is not "just a fight" and not worth pursuing.
In conclusion I still hold a lot of bitterness towards Officer Chang and the many people that took up his "discrimination" claim without considering that maybe he actually was incompetent.

Today
I briefly ventured to the local pool hall, "Hot Shots," where my friend Kerry was hanging out. When I got there I saw my friend Jessica Hughs, whom I've seen twice now in the last four years or so. She joyfully announced to me that she just found out she's gonna have herself a baby.

So today was my last day in Orange County. I was already thinking I've seen a lot of people I used to know this break, but today alone I saw piles of old friends.

So I hunted down my old friend Nick Lucas and caught up to him at the Mission Viejo Mall ("The Shops at Mission Viejo," wtf?). While in the mall I ran into Monte's girlfriend (my little brother's best friend), and apparently my little brother's woman saw me there as well (possibly in a completely seperate incident? Because she wasn't with the other girl at the time).
Then later I go with him to starbucks uh some indie coffee shop uhhh ::shifty-eyes::, and Jessica Hanson, whom I went to school with from elementry school through HS is working there.. and this girl Bree who used to work at wild rivers is there as well.

Later on I go on down to Diedrichs, and in addition to all the regular people, Courtney Grasinger shows up (from my HS chemistry class), followed shortly by Jason Nelson, another person I went to school with from elementry school through HS.
Then I buy "cool" Kyle (I guess there must be an "uncool kyle" but I've never met him) and Mike tHH 40s of steel as their christmas presents. While at Viejo Liquor I run into Akbar Khan. Back at Diedrichs, Kerry Wilcox stopped by, then in completely unprecedented behavior my little brother and his friends drove by, apparently with the sole purpose of yelling "eurotrash!!" at me. Then Kyle, Mike tHH, Laney and I went to Target because Kyle just got kicked out of his house and needed thermal underwear. Kyle and Mike tHH currently live in Kyle's car.
Shalane currently has pinkish orange hair.

Then EVERYONE decided to go to the Irvine Spectrum. And by everyone I mean Cool Kyle, Mike tHH, Shalane, Croat, Matt Morgan, Stephanie & her boyfriend Tom, Tristan and myself. So we all up and carpooled ourselves over there like the big happy family we are in three cars.
Much mischief was then caused at the Irvine Spectrum. While there I ran into Anamica from UCD Model UN. Its always weird to run into people from Davis while down here.
And then I ran into Jessica Hughs, my date from winter formal junior year. Now see, thing with my dates to dances: (A) my dates to the last four dances were named Jessica, Jennifer, Jessica, & Jennifer, (four different people), of whom (B) three I had met at MUN conferences (all but Jessica Hughs). Anyway, Jessica Hughs has spent the last three years in Oregon, so it was really suprising to run into her.

Anyway, after a great deal of mischief was perpetuated, Kyle, Mike tHH, and I rode the parking trolly around forever and finally half frozen got to my car, and we returned to Diedrichs, where we reconvened with Laney and Croat. Then I bid everyone adieu and went home. The end.
