So heard back on the status of my laptop. Apparently multiple important pieces of hardware are irreperably toasted. So its hella dead. So I need a new laptop.

Last week when I was at the Irvine Spectrum with Kristy we ran into my friend Nick Lucas. It was the first time I'd seen anyone from the "group" of my friends from HS in at least three years. Four years since I've seen or talked to any of them other than him.
Today I ran into Shasta ([livejournal.com profile] shasta333) and Michelle ([livejournal.com profile] offbeat_bareass) at the Spectrum. I'm glad I got to see them before returning to Davis.

Reports from the Grand Canyon trip my parents and the two frenchman went on are that there was a "talk like Kris day" ("such sauce!"). Also Clement's faulty english apparently caused some amusement, with lizards being referred to as "little dinasaurs" and grass as "little trees."

Summarizing Summers
So a lot of other people are summarizing their summers in their livejournal right now. The last two summers I've meant to do such a summary but never got around to it. To catch up on those, the summer of 2003 was the best summer of my life, the summer of 2004 was kinda lame was kinda lame but could have been worse. It could have, for example, been this summer. This summer was the lamest summer I can remember.
I don't think I've met a single new person this summer, aside from the people at work, and I haven't seen any of them outside of work.
Highlights of this summer included hanging out with Nidia a bunch until she got a new boyfriend from the internet, hanging out with Alex(andra) Hughes a bunch, and having a new pet exchange student from France around. By far the highlight of this summer was having Kristy around for a week and going to Vegas with her.

And now, lets recap what the last week or so was like the previous two summers (since I haven't done the year-ago-todays for that time anyway)
Two Years Ago on Emosnail )

Tomorrow, that same period in 2004?

   Tomorrow I leave for Davis.

Went in to Wild Rivers today to do some swimming and see what was going on. Stacy the evil wench was working in the office so she wouldn't let me in.. made me go in the front entrance. For which I needed to get an ID made. But I'm happy to report that one need only show up in a Wild Rivers uniform to have an ID made there.. they didn't check with anyone else.. so if anyone wants to cause some trouble...
But yea so Nikki who I have to deal with was busy... training a new supervisor.
The bottem line is I ain't never getting promoted, and they totally know it. I can see it in the way the HR director avoids eye contact with me now... and of course the more overt signs like how everyone and their brother gets promoted over me.
So I'm not a good swimmer.. I'm still one of the best employees they've ever had. They can bite me.

Otherwise... hung out with Shasta in Laguna Beach for awhile Saturday, then proceeded to a show at Chain... back to Wild Rivers that morning for more swimming but instead they put me to work cause they needed people... then beach bonfire.. and a 40 and a half of steel reserve... it was good times.. then this morning (see above)... now I'm about to go to Diedrichs. Yea. Wild Rivers can bite me.

Called Fish the other day... she is on tour with Warp Tour. Sucks that I can't randomly go on tour with people.. on account of not being a girl and all.. grawwr.

Finally went to the hardware store and got brilliant red lights. yay.
Then I went for icecream with Shasta. We stopped by the Diedrichs off La Paz afterwords, but none of the usual people were there, I asked one of the employees "where is everyone?" and he said he thought they went to the beach.

I had made definite plans to hang out with Nidia this evening, but couldn't get ahold of her today. My god why do so many people flake out on me? Is it something about me? Because I'm a bad person maybe?
I decided to check out the Diedrichs Bree spoke of yesterday while I tried to figure out what to do.. the Diedrichs at Muirlands / Lake Forest. From there I went to rendezvous with Bree at DOA ("Dennies Off Alicia"), and to my surprise I find that she is with the kids from Diedrichs off La Paz (DLP?).. so that was just way funny, ending up running into those same kids anyway.
One of the DLP crew kids, Becka, and this other guy spent literally 40 minutes trying to determine how they knew eachother.. they went through everything, listed every class they'd taken (They both went to Saddleback College, as if that wasn't enough of a connection right there), listed all their friends, everything.. eventually they discovered they'd had the same therapist.. that explains a lot. Later in response to something Becka said "that is SO going in my livejournal ([livejournal.com profile] momentsxwasted)." Word.

Yesterday around 19:00 I went to the Diedrichs, nominally just going for a cup of coffee, but kinda knowing it would lead to other things (hehe isn't that what one's supposed to do after a date? "want to come up for coffee?"), and sure enough I ended up going to capo beach with the Diedrichs kids. And this time, I actually made it and it was all good. We had ourselves a bonfire. Lessee fully represented we had: Katie D'agistino, Laney, Crow (AKA "the Evil Ex" Chris, as regards [livejournal.com profile] your_evenstar anyway), the guy with the Steel Reserve & Flogging Molly shirts (we'll call him.. SRFM?), and a bunch of other people.
At like 22:00, or maybe even earlier, the beach closed and the cops actually showed up, so we all skedaddled. We proceeded to this place called "Top of the World," in Mission Viejo. Its a park on top of a hill next to some water tanks, from where you can see like the whole city. We lurked about up there till like 1am.. well I left at 00:30 because I was cravin the in-n-out. I had two double-doubles mm.

I bought guinness before we went to the beach of course. And while I was in the grocery store this lady asked me where the tonic water was, because I was wearing my IHOP hat and she therefore mistook me for a grocery store employee... apparently.

They say people with psychological issues often develope them in college because of the stress. I think I'm developing some: I can't leave the house without a sharpie; and today I actually intend to go to the hardware store and buy some red light bulbs because I need my room to have red lighting. ::shurg::

Speaking of which, I actually forgot one of the worst things about work the other day: I forgot both my cell phone AND my wallet. Now I can't bring the cell phone into work with me but it was just a bad omen and really odd because I NEVER forget it.
I got my break about mid-day, when it still had pretty much TOTALLY SUCKED, and I hadn't even run into Shasta yet. So I'm hot and tired and unhappy and then I realize I don't have any money. I wanted to cry. Only, not. I found two dollars worth of nickles and dimes in my car, not even any quarters, and then set about begging for money from employees. I was going to ask Tony, the cool office girl, but I get there and Stacy the Evil Wench was there so I asked some dumb question and ran. Then I asked supervisor Pokey (Gumby's younger brother, no joke.), and another deepguard nearby overheard and gave me a dollar. <3 deepguards.

I just learned today is Friday. I honestly totalyl thought today was like wednesday, and went through all of yesterday thinking it was like tuesday. I love summer.

Survey: Am I a Bad Person because for the first time in my life I intend to not spend the 4th with my parents?

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Laney - "Hey are you guys going to diedrichs tomarrow? Uh wait let me rephrase that: what time are you going to diedrichs tomarrow?"

So today was my first actual day of work at Wild Rivers for the summer. I worked 11-7.
When I got there Nikki informed me that since I'm not area trained in anythign yet this year I can't work anything but three places, two of which are the most unpleasant places in the park (the kiddie pools argh!). I'm like... I am practically qualified to GIVE the area training.. I'm the most senior lifeguard there and have seniority over several supervisors (Yes thats right; I get passed over in favor of people like Hethr, who with half as many years as I and a number of no shows already that season was promoted to supervisor, why? So Ryan Carter can date her. I'm serious).
So the first half of the day I'm working these sucky places and thinking about going postal or something. I felt like "the funnyman" from Boondock Saints, like everyone knows I'm never getting promoted and is laughing at me. But then the second half I got to spotbreak shallows and basically things went a lot better.
The highlight of my day was DEFINITELY seeing SHASTA who happened to be in the park, randomly. Yay. Seriously made my day.
And I met this girl Hannah who seriously is for awesome. I worked with her at the bottem of "patriot," where there's always two employees. Of course supervisor Jeff Whetstone (::caugh::manwhore::caugh::) was flirting with her when I got there. We were only working together for like five minutes but it was long enough that now we're LIKE THIS. Good times.

My internet was down for nearly 24 hours. I almost died.

Yesterday I went to the Suburban Legends beach party. It was pretty cool. I went with Shasta and her friend Jass. There we encountered Michelle, Bubba and Jessiska among others. There was TOTALLY a Mini-Joe it was insane. And apparently Luke is quite big. Apparently. I mean he is a wolf. No really he is a wolf.

We parked HELLA far away cause umm we couldn find the bonfire.. like it took us an hour to find it, literally. And it took so long to walk back to the car (twenty minutes) that I got a parking ticket..!! I swear before that day I had never gotten a ticket in my life, but on 06/24/03 I got a parking ticket at both 00:35 and 22:22. Total: $129. )=

Today I finally got ahold of people at Work, work being as always, Wild Rivers. See, its always an adventure because to talk to anyone important you have to deal with the office secretaries, and these evil individuals like to think they are supervisors, but they are not. They make up for this insecurity by being as unhelpful and patronizing to the employees as they can. A few years ago the HR director, Lisa, told me to come in, when I got there the secretary told me I couldn see her, I get home and call Lisa again, and Lisa tells me to come back and tell the secretary that she demanded to see me. Yea. So anyway today there finally was a new girl in the office who wasn't evil yet, so I got to talk to Kevin. He doesn't know if he has any supervisor positions opening up, but I'm going to be working "temp" in the mean time; meaning I'm not on the schedule and I just take people's shifts and shiznaz. Rock on.

Firstly, I went to TACO LOCO today with Shasta. Mmmm I had my usual calamari burger. ::drool:: soogood.
Then I made some attempts to contact Jenelle Bel Isle, for whom I no longer had a current phone number. In so doing I called Bryant Conger to no avail, and found Katie D'Agistino's number to be no longer valid either. I then proceeded once again went to Diedrichs off La Paz just to see who I might find there.
Upon arriving I immediately found Katie D'Agistino there. I'd hoped to find Alyssa working there one of these times but apparently she quit, so I tried calling her, and just as I did so, SHE showed up. Craziness. Jesska Ornstein also showed up. And then.. who should show up but Jenelle Bel Isle herself. And then, since SHE had Bryant's cell number, we called HIM. Diedrichs is the place to be.
I also briefly met Katie's friend Shalane.

Anyway, then Jenelle and I traipsed over to her place to "play scrabble" if you know what I mean. If you don't know what I mean, I mean I got violated. If you still don't know, I mean we literally played scrabble and I got the first parking violation in my life.
Good thing I happen to know the definition of "quaff" ("to drink heartily") by heart hehe.
   And then there was....

GODLITE
So my seven letters in the game happened to spell "godlite," and we thought that was so funny we decided to put it on the board.
Then I pick seven new letters right? So I randomly pick G O D L I T E. TWICE IN A ROW. Someone with too much free time calculate the odds of that happening. Frankly I'm kinda freaked out.
